This is one of the gifts of the internet; a person can be sitting alone somewhere, and yet be absolutely gifted the opportunity to witness a moment of art such as this. And not in some static, made for TV kind of way-but in a manner that allowed me to hear his feet strike the stage, and his breathing from exertion. A truly remarkable thing. Dear Mr Polunin. I've watched the documentary on you on Netflix tonight and I am stunned, at a loss for words at your unparalleled talent.. You are simply an amazing performer. I've trained in classical piano from a young age so understand musicality and the emotions that music can bring forth. I've also dabbled for a few years doing ballet as a child (until I gave it up for horse riding - such fun!). I guess I'm just trying to say that I see you, feel you in my heart and I'm mesmerized every time I watch you perform. @@nicoliebedisa7062 his parents divorced while sacrificing for him so that he could pursue a ballet career in england and he pushed himself past his limits because he thought his success would reunite the family. it's an altogether heartbreaking story if you watch the docuseries. suffice to say he was a prodigy for the royal ballet and they were so stuck in their traditions and hierarchies that he was forced to leave.

Knowing those temporary stages provide zero protection on a dancer’s joints landing their leaps and jumps, I find this performance incredible. Artists literally cannot help themselves even risking injury to perform like this. Traditional ballet stages like basketball courts have some “give” to them. I am in awe of his athletic ability here to adapt. Very difficult indeed and he makes it look easy. ❤

This is my FAVORITE Beethoven AND classical song in the entire world. I didn't think there was any way to make this song any better... until I watched this dance. Sergei Polunin just made it better by dancing with it... not "to".. he dances WITH. He's another instrument in the orchestra... that just happens to be on stage. ❤

I wish I could have seen “more” of my favourite dancer. I feel like the camera was rarely in the right place to capture Sergei’s strength and beauty. All the wrong camera angles unless you only wanted to capture the rawness of emotion. That said, breathtaking as usual.
