VERY VERY HAPPY to see Jade in this vid! He is Sergei’s best friend, school chum and choreographer as well as a fine dancer in his own right! Anyway, he choreographed this piece for Sergei, when Sergei told him he was quitting dance for good, and Sergei asked him to choreograph his last dance. Of course, Sergei performed it with his amazing virtuosity and emotion, however imho I feel that Jade has gotten the short end of the stick when it comes to all the fame and accolades given to this piece. This piece was directly responsible for bringing Sergei’s desire to dance back to him, and for this I am thankful to them both! Some of the people mentioned in the credits had very little or no obvious real contribution to the piece or the video, while the brilliant guy who CREATED the piece gets ignored! WTF???

it's great that this exists. Ballet is so often perceived as dumb and 'girly' but Sergei is like a bridge for people to appreciate the beauty in ballet and build respect for it.

ballet usual has a message, just as films do, but ballet is live and the music is part of the story, your comment is amazing, were you a bit tipsy, :-) :-)

Dance is powerful and controlled whether by males or by''dumb girlies'. Language can be damaging. All dancers express art.

As Nureyev’s ballet master told him It’s not so much about how high you can jump but how long you hang in the air that makes the “wow”moment and as Bob said therefore makes gravity look optional.

No one gives me goosebumps and makes me shudder like Sergei. To move one's body so gracefully, especially while propelling oneself into the air as effortlessly as a plastic bag floating in the wind, takes so much strength and control it is mind blowing. It's such a shame dancers don't get the same recognition as famous, top paid sports players since it's dancers like Sergei who are the utmost elite athletes.
@bettina43747 жыл бұрын
Oh my, nothing left to say! "Jesus", makes sense , I agree. He is just beautiful. PLEASE more of the behind the scenes. I love to watch how the dancers prepare, learn the pieces, warm-up, training, interviews,...This is sometimes even more interesting than the perfect performance in the end. I loved the warmup scene for this performance in the movie. My only complaint about the movie is that it was too short. The should bring out a 'fan version' for people who can watch him for hours. 😉

@IndiaInk4 жыл бұрын
@@bellap.7038 You may have figured it out by now, but the movie is "Dancer" it's a documentary about Sergei's life. This clip, and a few other behind the scenes views are in the extras. You can also get his Royal Ballet performances of Alice in Wonderland, Marguerite and Armond (on the Ashton Celebration collection), Peter and the Wolf (but it's a kids' program, so he doesn't get to do much of anything spectacular in it), and his brief appearance in the 25th Anniversary edition of the Phantom of the Opera. And, of course, lots and lots of KZbin clips. :)
