Oh my GOD! I heard this on a russian orthodox compilation and i have been looking for the composer for the longest time. So its Taneyev! Thank you so much for the upload

I am really offended by the way you start your comment. You should have said oh my goodness. Not the other. A lot of people have that habit of saying what you said. It's an awful habit. I am a Christian and that's how I feel.

@@lightspeed174 i felt it rather suited the nature of the music?

the most underrated composer in history of music (from Renaissance to nowadays). Taneyev's counterpoint textbook inspired Godowsky to imagine endless possibilities of counterpoint that culminated in the most intricate and compact counterpoint all within 5 fingers of left land.

The first movement has one of the most insanely awesome fugues I've ever heard.

But did you heard a third movement?)) There is a double fugue))

Maybe you know it, but if not, go listen to all of Taneyev’s large chamber works with piano to hear the most awesome thematic transformations, contrapuntal writing, harmonic language, rhythmic drive, not to mention deeply felt music. I’m a total fan.

@@ChristovanRensburg I know them, they're awesome. I especially love the Piano Quintet and Piano Quartet, and also his String Quartets no. 1 and no. 3. Another piece I really love the Oresteia Overture (the independent one), just so powerful and incredibly well-orchestrated. He was a really great composer, and it's terrible that he never became famous internationally.

This is one of the best Russian pieces I've heard in a long while and also I've been looking for someone similar to Tchaikovsky and it seems that I found him .❤
