As much as I'd love to see Lawson in the RB20 I'd imagine RBR wants him to at least do a full season before getting that call up. Yes he's proved that he's more than capable of being quick in an F1 car but he needs more seat time and that's probably best given in the Junior team. I am Australian and have some inherent favour towards Daniel, but honestly put him in for the rest of the year and get Lawson in the RB, if Danny flounders get rid of him for next year that's his time in the sport over And Lawson will at least have had more time and could go to RBR for next year. I'd like to see Yuki get the seat but he's more than likely going to Aston with Honda.

Move Daniel into Perez's seat and Lawson into Daniel's seat. If Daniel doesn't perform for the rest of the year, let him go. At that point, Lawson may have enough experience and confidence to move him in to the seat beside Max, which allows for another junior seat available at Vcarb.

The point regarding Checo's sponsors is not that meainingful if they lose the championship. Apart from the championship money they will lose, many sponsors pay premium to be featured on champion team, so the monetary loss from getting second in the constructurs's is not just the prize money.

Perez fate is in Danny's hands, I see three permutations. 1. Perez does well - Perez keeps his seat. 2. Perez does badly while Danny does well - Danny replaces him. 3. Perez and Danny does badly while Yuki does really well -Perez keeps his seat.

I think the best outcome is to just put Danny into the RB (regardless of performance) for the rest of the season. If he does well he keeps the seat, if not they can see how Lawson and Tsunoda compare over a longer period. It also gives them the opportunity to get more new talent in (assuming Daniel doesn’t perform).

I think if they're gonna drop Perez from RBR, it will be Danny replacing him until the end of the season, and if he does poorly, they will look for drivers outside of RB. Sainz would probably be an option. Or Hulkenberg

Sadly I thought Checo was turning it around during the free practice sessions in silverstone being there with the time leaders. However, the spin in qualifying into the gravel ruined his weekend, which was further compounded by the switch to the inters. Listening in on the race, this was the first time I didn't hear horner on checo's radio at the end of the race. To me was the biggest sign that RB will be getting rid of checo. Could you imagine they drop him, try daniel, say he ain't it, and sign Carlos to RB for next year?

That is what they should have done in the first place ( signing Carlos ) instead of resigning Checo. Maybe Checo brings in more financialy than we can see. Then the main sponsors will offer less money to be on the car, because it is not the champ car anymore. Think, think and think again. I don't even think putting Liam in that car is a good option. Here's something to consider: Remember Checo was looking to win a championship. When that was the case, he was pushing hard and making wins. As soon as he accepted that in the team, he will always be the "Red Bottas", his performance dropped... a LOT.

Why don't people remember/recall Marko talking down Yuki because he was 'forced' on Red Bull/Torro Rosso by Honda. Has he matured as a driver? Yes. Who has helped him do that? Riccardo. It wasnt his best mate Gasly. Yuki still doesn't have the mind set/mentality to step up to the top team. and still doesnt know how to provide meaningfull feedback to the engineers and factory (admits that DR3 is teaching him in all facets). Can L Lawson do it? Maybe? Maybe not? - best thing for Lawson would be the rest of this season in VCARB next to Yuki. Again, not much if any proven record of how to provide meaningfull feedback to the engineers and factory. DR3 replaces Checo after the summer break (going of last years tire test at silverstone - Dan and Max like the same set up/style of car), It might get them the constructors having DR3 up there on the podiums and gives them the chance to keep L Lawson and assess him and Yuki for the step up to the top team

Yup... this is the most logical outcome. Placing Tsunoda is a risk of a blow up with he and Max, and the team cannot afford that with a WCC on the line. Placing Lawson is just too early. let him run till the end of the year in the mid-field and if he's on fire, then promote him if Daniel is ordinary.

I don't know why anyone thinks Tsunoda will get that seat, it is between Lawson and Ricciardo. Red Bull have never shown interest in Tsunoda and the last thing they want is drama between drivers, flashpoints, fighting and an overall more intense atmosphere to add to what they already have. I really hope Lawson doesn't get the Red Bull seat immediately, as he has very little experience and his confidence will just be shattered by Max, which could potentially make Lawson look incapable and diminish his image as a strong driver. That leaves Daniel, who I think will probably take the seat because he is the safe option, and the perfect driver to boost team morale, and potentially sort of steady the ship at Red Bull, hopefully being quicker than Perez and a strong number 2 driver, full of confidence. Daniel too brings in a lotttt of cash which Red Bull always love. That's just my take on the situation and I think is the best option for Red Bull when looking from the outside in.

Yup. Yuki is a forced option cos he's Japanese guy and Honda supplies engines. He hasn't shown anything special in the time he has been in f1 and his attitude is unbearable. Whoever RBR put in that seat, will need to be able to handle a max-like setup. As the season progresses and the car is further optimized to max, it gets further away from how checo likes it. The biggest takeaway is that Liam Lawson's future as a driver is/should be worth exponential times more to RBR than Checo does right now OR in the future. He's young, he's quick and he may very well be a WDC contender down the road. There is virtually zero upside to keeping Checo with Lawson and Tsunoda waiting in the wings. They can't afford to lose Lawson given the state of their junior driver program. They need to end this BS and just make the damn call already. It's so glaringly obvious and as a Merc fan, I'm somehow embarrassed for RBR that they haven't already figured this out themselves.

Red Bull are in a Constructors Title Battle, and a big reason for that is because of the underperformance of Sergio relative to Max. The irony is, replacing Sergio might not be the solution it appears to be. If anything it might expose the Red Bull car to greater scrutiny if the person sat next to Max is also unable to perform.

Consider the fact that Sergio Perez was Hülkenberg's teammate at Force India for a few years and performed at a similar level. Now, Hülkenberg got more points in the last two races than Perez in the last six. The 2nd driver at Red Bull was so consistently behind Max now, except briefly in 2022 after a regulation revolution, to the point that it's obvious that Red Bull hand-tailors their cars to Max's needs and wants to the point that the 2nd driver gets left behind unless they have the exact same driving style or can somehow adapt to it. A driver's performance outside of that Red Bull is no indicator for their performance in that seat anymore. For all we know, Lance Stroll or Logan Seargant could perform at Max's level in that car.

As a new f1 fan who’s been binging the history and all the background, it’s redbull’s car. Max is having similar troubles with the car as Checo, he’s just on a different level so he can fight them better. Checo is an experienced driver, he drives well, both drivers are fighting a car that’s fighting them back. It doesn’t help that the other teams are stepping up their development game. It makes the entire thing look worse because the redbull car no longer has the performance gap to keep them out of having to fight for podiums (max) and points (checo). I hope even if he loses the redbull contract, he gets picked up on a smaller team. He still has some spark left in him, he just needs a team that cares and a car that works.

I like to think RB wanted to keep him on as he is not going to challenge Max during the race weekends. Meaning all Max has to do is stay clean and battle Lando and Russell. But now that the other cars have caught up to RB, they need a 2nd driver to help Max win. One thing people don't realize either is because Checo is driving so poor they can't use a lot of his data to help push the car forward with upgrades. He crashes a lot. He's in dirty air a lot. So comparing data from Max and Checo after a weekend is going to show wildly varying results. It could make upgrades slower or harder to make.

Here are my two cents on RB's situation: Yuki Tsunoda If Yuki becomes Max's teammate, I can guarantee he won't perform well. Despite his improvements over the past two years, Yuki doesn't seem to have the drive to give Max a full-on battle. Even if he's managed his temper issues, I can see him lacking the confidence he has with the Racing-Bulls-CashApp-Visa-Mastercard-Chase-Bank-Zelle-Venmo team. Liam Lawson If Liam Lawson joins RB, I have a strong feeling we'll see a situation similar to Vettel vs. Webber or even Nico vs. Hamilton. The question is, does Red Bull really want to deal with that again after experiencing it once already? I think Liam should stay with Racing Bulls, replace Daniel, and hone his skills there while he finds a top team that will take him, other than RB. Sergio Perez As for Sergio Perez, I don't know. I think RB has run out of excuses. Recently, Juan Pablo Montoya mentioned watching the inside of the cockpits and seeing differences between both cars. I don't care how many years you've been watching F1 or what you've witnessed; I trust the word of someone who has driven an F1 car more than anyone else. Red Bull could have signed Alonso but now that ship has sailed. This creates an opening for Sainz, especially since Max to Mercedes is a bigger risk now that Merc is back on form, so Red Bull will need a competitive driver in their lineup in the event Max leaves (As for pushing out Max, while Sainz is good, I do not think that he will cause Max enough trouble to prevent him from getting the championship, he is good enough to take pick up the pieces if something happens to Max and perhaps beat him on occasions). Yes... Much as I like Checo and indeed rate him as a driver, this run of terrible form cannot continue without the team being forced to replace him. The trouble is I strongly suspect his extremely poor showing (and previous incumbents) has a good deal more to do with RB being a very dysfunctional team than any lack of ability on his part - that being the case who would you put in his seat?* *Daniel would be a 'shoe-in' if his form of the last few years didn't raise serious questions. *Yuki strikes me as a poor choice for a seat where even the most stable of drivers struggles. *Liam Lawson... do RB throw yet another potential talent to the wolves? There only safe choice right now is to swap Checo and Daniel, leave Lawson until 2025 no matter how this plays out Lawson will have a sit, there is enough data to suggest Daniel’s driving style will actually suit Red Bull and he will go very well, putting in a rookie against Max very bad idea if I was Lawson and wanted a long f1 career I would not get in that red bull against Max, Lawson is not an Oscar Pastri, Lawson needs at least one year in VCarb. I'm sure there have been several instances of trickery within teams, but RB cutting off one foot while trying to maintain a constructor's championship sounds a bit unbelievable. Especially when the target driver has never been a real threat to Max, regardless of picking up a couple wins over the span of 2021/2023. Miami 2023, Checo loses out from pole to a 9th place start from Max, who runs off into the destance the second the place is secured. You could say the same about Williams. I think it's the second driver syndrome. Realistically, you're there to race. If you can't actually race and compete with the driver on your team what's the point. If the team principal favors one driver over the other that plays with the mind. Sergio Perez is a brilliant driver. The issue is Red Bull, and its broken driver program. They destroyed Albon and Gasly, and they're doing really well elsewhere. No one inside Red Bull Gmbh seems to notice that those issues had roots on figures like Marko openly stating that Checo isn't as good as other European drivers because he's Latin American, and they have a 'different mindset'. Yuki isn't consistent either and they don't know how he'll get on with Max. I think paired with Max his hot headedness will absolutely return and lead to wrecking one or both cars.

If it was me I’d promote yuki for a season or two just to see if he can find his feet in a upper echelon team while giving his old seat to Lawson.
