@@ronmurray7349 Muddied by Prema actually getting their car wrong, not necessarily his skill, but yeah I do agree. Hes not ready for a main seat drive. I REALLY wish they got Albon.... He felt like the perfect fit. Sainz would probably want a longer deal, but hed be much much more helpful in helping contribute to 2026 regs. Regardless Albon would have been amazing, what he's doing at Williams has been awesome to watch. Hes clearly learned and grown. Hes also someone that would be easier to let go after a couple years while Kimi develops if they're set on Kimi driving. Plus cheaper than Sainz. (either in F2, or F1).

Mercedes: Sainz (2-3 years while Antonelli gets experience to see if he's ready for the jump up) RBR: Ricciardo (strong 2nd driver to Max, car suits his driving style, allows Lawson and other juniors to develop properly) RB: Lawson (Get experience and test yourself against a very strong Tsunoda) Haas: Ocon (Good benchmark for Bearman, stronger than Magnussen pace wise) Alpine: Doohan (Alpine don't have many options, but Doohan has been embedded in the team for a while give him a chance, maybe other drivers available for 2026 if he doesn't cut it) Williams: Antonelli (Same route as Russell get him ready for Mercedes. Tested against solid Albon) Sauber: Bottas (Already with the team. Great team-mate to Hulk, 2 very experienced solid drivers to drive Audi forward) Make it happen.

Honestly since Red Bull will never promote Yuki i think the best option is: Give the seat to Danny Ric until the end of the season. If he proves himself there then keep him, if not then end his career. That way you definitevly see if hes still got it and you can basically guarantee Lawson a seat in VCARB next year or even a full Red Bull seat if Danny gets the boot. And thats me talking as a Danny Ric fan...i'd love for him to succeed but at this point i just wish he gets the actual top team test for even half a year and then either proves himself or retires.

People can overlook a personality if the speed is there. It's when the speed isn't there and you're throwing tantrums that nobody has time for you. Imo. So I don't see it as that tough to include him in the creme of the F2 crop along with the other 3 OP mentioned. Apparently Lawson was under-whelming in his Red Bull test the other day. It was reported by someone trackside for PlanetF1 that he was 0.2 off the benchmark Red Bull wanted him to hit. It looks more likely now that Ricciardo will be the guy with Horner being happy with his recent turned around form, plus also Tsunoda doesn't seem to have a future with RBR with his Honda link at Aston Martin. If Checo does indeed end up getting benched, why not give Ricciardo (the only driver to ever push Max in a RBR) one last chance to see if he still has it for the 2nd half of the season. You can pretty much guarantee he won't be worse than Checo is now, so what do you really have to lose. If he is indeed past his prime, all good he can retire at the end of the year with RBR and they put Tsunoda or Lawson in the seat for 2025. If Ricciardo shows he still has it, great he can push Max and he is a solid 2nd driver RBR needs for the mean time, this also allows for the young guys coming up like Lawson to get more experience to replace him when he retires.

After what happened to Albion and Gazley, they will almost always default to have a new driver in the junior team. If they pull Checo from red Bull it will cost RB $30m in lost sponsorships. DR comes with his Optus telco, Pernod Ricard , Visa and ford sponsorships that well and truly make that amount up (and then some) They will bring Daniel to the Main team as he drives the same set up as Max. He will also be fast in that RB car which is suited to his driving style. Lastly in the last 5 weeks Daniel has been way faster than Yuki. RB has made some accomodations to Daniel regarding his recovery from a broken hand and arm. But due to this he has done the bulk of testing new parts on the v-carb and been given mechanically faulty equipment for at last 5 races. They have also given Daniel some terrible strategies and shocking Pitt stops. On three occasions it has cost Daniel q3 qualifying

I think Sauber will end up the only option for Sainz. However, if he waits for too long I can imagine him being out of seat… I think RB will take Ric for rest of this season as a test and if it doesn’t work he might be out… Williams will take Bottas. Alpine has to promote doohan… if not then that team is just a joke… they don’t need to waste money on Sainz… and I wouldn’t be surprised if Sauber would offer Perez their seat… the question is if he wants it… then Sainz would be out… 🤷🏻‍♂️

I've been saying this to my friends since January: Red Bull's seat's going to Ricciardo, no doubt. I feel like they DON'T want a driver that'll be toe-to-toe w/ Max. IMO they just want someone who'll consistently score points and occasionally some podiums AND has a good marketing behind. And that's Daniel. They want him as the "face" of Red Bull Racing alongside Max.

Lawson also failed to really impress at his recent Silverstone test drive compared to what Ricciardo pulled off to regain his Alpha Tauri seat last year. Personally believe they might chuck in Ricciardo for Perez post summer break for the hell of it. Sorry Yuki, you were my hero!

@@willjackson6522 Totally agree on Lawson deserving a seat, but i think Horner's massive love and respect for Ricciardo might blind him to that fact. Yeah, Lawson impressed last year, but we have seen many a rookie crumble in the face of Max's talent. Ricciardo, at least, has a history with it.

I am gonna write it here as well: After the SB: Put Danny Ric in RB, promote Liam into vCarb. Test your ultimate plan (can't end up worse). If it fails, put Danny out, hire Yuki or Liam and promote Hadjar for the remaining seat. A win-win case for all parties since team championship seems not to matter this year as much as drivers wc.

Signing Ocon after Bearman will be the end of Haas in F1. Bearman has tremendous potential and it will all be ruined by Ocon. It is baffling they would do that. Ocon is probably a great person outside the grid but when it comes to the team environment he is absolutely terrible. Kmag staying would be five times better than having Ocon.

Antonelli winning in the rain is absolutely not as impressive as you make it seem. Yes, he did keep it on the road, which isn't nothing. But considering how tight the field is in F2, he was literally the only driver on the track throughout that race that could see anything at all. If he hadn't gapped everyone else that would have been embarrassing.

Hear me out. Mick goes to sauber for that full german lineup, and kimi does another year in F2. Alpine signs Kimi for 2026 as part of the engine deal with Mercedes, Max is moving to Mercedes for 2026 with George and then Mercedes can choose between George or Kimi for 2027. The only thing missing to really upset the driver market is to see Max leave RB for Mercedes for 2025, for that to happen mercedes needs to win again until September. We are in for a treat if Mercedes manages to win again before the summer break. You would be foolish to not go for that Mercedes seat in 2025 especially if they keep going like this, i would argue it is a better deal than the second RB seat at the moment. It is a shame Alonso signed so early.

Logan’s sort of had a rough hand dealt to him this year. I think him out qualifying Perez 9 times speaks volumes. He hasn’t had the upgrades that Albon has got which in turn partially came from the sponsorship and US origin of Logan. Albon wraps his ride and Logan is forced to give up his car. All that said, Albon should get the Merc seat. He’s drove the wheels off that Williams for years now. I’d say he’s been a top 2-3 driver since he started at Williams he’s been unreal. As for logan, he can go to Haas

The biggest problem Liam Lawson has is that it's reported in his recent Silverstone tyre test he underperformed and failed to meet the benchmarks Red Bull had set. Now Isack Hadjar (also a Red Bull Academy driver) is leading the Formula 2 championship and there's rumours he's on course to take the reserve driver role for 2025. The hope Lawson has is that Red Bull drop Perez, that frees up a spot in the VCARB, but if it's a driver switch in where Perez gets demoted to the junior team then it looks likely that Lawson will have to find a seat outside of the Red Bull family.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, I don't want to see another rookie go to a backmarker team ever again. The only reason I'm somewhat ok with Bearman to Haas is because of their recent pace, but it still scares me. You can make whatever argument you want, but De Vries, Sargeant, and (imo) especially Schumacher all have had their careers put on the back foot, if not ruined, by being at a team with horrible cars. I think the teams further back would be better off using more experienced drivers to build their cars up. I want Antonelli to go straight to Mercedes.
@walover165
@walover165 Ай бұрын
The irony is that in the old days that was exactly how it used to be. Drivers like Webber and Alonso began their careers in Minardis that made the Sauber look like a title car. What changed was that Hamilton waltzed into a title-capable car in his rookie year. After that, people stopped having patience with rookies. They weren't given time to grow and develop (unless they brought major sponsorships/stacks of money). Testing was getting less and less, but so is the length of time given to prove themselves...

Out of everyone who doesn't have a seaf yet, i really hope Bottas gets one. He was shafted at Mercedes and which forced him to go to a backmarker. I think hes still got the pace in him. He just needs a decent car with a team that actually supports him. I think as well that an Albon Bottas pairing would be great it. And it would be great for Williams to have 2 very experienced and competent drivers to give them the stability in their rebuild

They are talented enough, the problem is that enough of them don't go overseas to drive in the lower formulas that promote to F1. I cannot think of a NASCAR driver to ever go to F1...unless you count Mario, who was really an open wheeler in the US. There hasn't been an Indy car driver(that I can remember) go to F1 since Michael Andretti. Montoya was parked in Indy Car for two years by Williams, so maybe he counts. Even if I live to 100, I doubt I will see an Indy Car driver go to F1.

Hear me out… what if Merc recall Valterri on a 2+1 deal (because his profile as a driver is more suited to a front runner; Eg. His ability to put it on the front row and be able to defend much better than he can attack) Antonelli to Williams on a 2+1 loan from Mercedes (with a cheaper technical partnership wrt engine and other components due to the possibility of Williams being a midfield team at the start of the regulation cycle like 2014) Sainz to Sauber on a multi year deal (with a constructor performance based exit clause active after the conclusion of the first season under the new regs) Doohan to alpine on a 1 year contract with performance based extension clauses (because of the number of alpine jr drivers in the jr formulas showing the quality of the academy) Ocon to Haas on a 3 year deal (with a driver errors leading to crashes type exit clause on the constructor side) Logan Sargent to Haas as a reserve driver alongside Fittipaldi while he competes in other series (like the Merc reserve drivers rn) Zhou as an Audi reserve driver And the RB changes as tommo outlined
