I think providing backstories reminds us that these “monsters” were once every day people, just like us. It makes us face the reality that people are capable of such terrible acts instead of sensationalizing them and writing them off as different from society. Stay safe out there friends!

"The police were wondering why he had never gotten caught. He was pretty sloppy." Well, after listening to both Bailey and Brittney tell these true crime cases, A LOT of these police seem to be pretty incompetent. Not asking follow up questions, not getting evidence, allowing people in a crime scene and then it gets contaminated, flat out refuse to listen to a witness and say they are making things up for attention (this happened in the kidnapping case of the girl who was walked out of her family home and her sister, who was in bed with her sister pretending to be asleep when her older sister got kidnapped, told the police what she remembered about the kidnapper and they refused to believe her.🙄

Not talking about the back story doesn’t make any sense, especially when it comes to true crime. The back story is EVERYTHING, and it is important to research how/what led to killer’s behavior, motive, and psyche. And just because Bailey does research on the back story and talks about doesn’t mean she is using it to justify what they did. I just find it weird that people are complaining about her discussing the back story, like I can’t think of any true crime/ mystery podcast or shows that doesn’t do that.

I love back stories!! To me it makes everything “make more sense” if you can even “make sense” out of anything like these stories! I barely even watch channels who don’t do back stories anymore honestly 🤷🏼♀️ I love a long in depth story with all the little details
@aimeeduff80004 жыл бұрын
Exactly! Without the backstory the whole story is boring. The back story is incredibly important to the whole story! I looove true crime but I won’t watch true crime shows or channels who don’t tell the backstory! I love all the little details too! 💕

If I wanted a simple "oh he did this and that", I could just do a quick google search. The back story is very very interesting from a psychological (is that a word?) point of view, and shows the similarity and differences with other criminals. If you REALLY get a Lot of comments bothering you about this, maybe give a time stamp to when the description of the crimes happens? Personally, the backstory is extremely important and interesting

Troubling. When you mentioned the broken thigh bone, I thought, would he have really known that in the middle of a frenzied attack? We will never know the truth. And those victims’ families will never be able to know what really happened. It is so unfair. P.S. You nailed it on Schenectady! Please keep doing the back stories!!!
@patriciabeckham79594 жыл бұрын
it is extremely hard to break a thigh bone,, but it could probably be easy to tell if she tries to walk because even just bruising your femur (thigh bone) is incredibly painful (I learned this from experience) so I'm sure he probably heard the bone break because it's the like the strongest (or one of the strongest) bones in our body or he could simply see the way the skin & woman reacted

I personally love when you tell the backstory. I also want to say that empathizing with someones situation doesn't mean you or anyone else are siding with them or saying that their childhood was a legitimate reason for the terror they steam rolled onto the world. You can empathize with someones upbringing and still condemn their actions :/ the world is not black and white, the world is all kinds of shades of gray.

Bailey, you NEED to talk about Elan School. It’s a cult where people send their kids to go to “school”, but it’s actually a system to brutalize and torture them. I don’t think the parents knew how bad things were, though. I had NO IDEA what this was until today(thank you, Reddit) This cult needs to be talked about more. There’s a comic made by Joe Nobody about this, I recommend reading it :) Also, think this would be a great topic for you, since you don’t really like talking about very popular and mainstream things. (And yes, I did post this on another video, but I want awareness to be spread because this type of stuff still happens today!)
