Just a tip. To prevent a person from breaking down your door. Replace the screws that came with your locks with 4 inch screws. It makes it a whole lot harder to break down a door when the screws reach into the stud.

Drill small pilot holes so you don't crack/split the studs. Our newly built house came with half inch screws on all the interior door hinges. New houses suck compared to old houses for build quality.

me too !! we were in elementary school and that was the only period during that phase of life when we did not carelessly take our time walking home the 7 or so, blocks home … in our “safe” and “quality” neighborhood instead we increased the number of us in our walking group, to make sure no one walked home alone … and we waited as a group, at the corner when we reached the street of one of our party members the last few in our group, all lived on the same street and we would either go to one home and get picked up or go to our respectives and call each other as soon as me made it inside we were very vigilant (and suspicious) about cars passing by or those which didn’t seem to belong oddly later in life when I was 18y, working at a job following high school … one hiatus day we were sitting around the office with our hacienda heights boss - norma’s, assistant and she ended up telling us this wildly crazy true story about something which occurred in her real life and ended with RR (but that’s a separate story for offline) blanca

Actually, I don't remember if my landlord was replaced by a fake or if the cop was. Los Angeles is an area where people brazenly steal uniforms from real cops, paramedics, etc. Presumably some bribe was paid and the girl got a trespassing charge, went to jail for three days, got out and broke into my apartment again on the same night. An SD card of a security camera was then taken to the local police station, people burst into the station and stole the SD card. This was TWELVE years ago and no one is in jail for those crimes yet. Going back, these stories on this video hit the news. The worst crimes going on in certain parts of Los Angeles aren't even being reported.

I don’t mean to be frank and yet … I do! As an L.A. native, generally speaking … people have a false sense of security - especially in “safe” or “better quality” neighborhoods. And this is something I first realized - in a “safe“ and “better quality” neighborhood (my then, complete theory I will reserve for offline), before the age of 7 Cameras are helpful and security bars can be great deterrents … or not! Add a few high quality tasers, multiple cans of bear spray, and order some zip tie police handcuffs Also, take some self defense courses - in person if possible or online, at the least The worst (and also, most natural) thing one can do, is be scared Be proactive in securing your family because … that really is no one else’s job but your own Just another level to add to your “emergency kit” 🙏🏽
