Personal opinion, but I think the series is trying to push back on the traditional meaning of the word "powerful" in anime for a more realistic meaning. What does it matter how big your gun is if you die falling to a leaf and pit trap? The quote from later in the series "It's like a game of rock paper scissor but with an infinite combinations" really exemplifies that. So if you throw out "power" as a defining factor, you're really just left with accomplishment. And with that, Serie would fall short of Frieren. Frieren, so far, has accomplished 2 things in the anime that Serie could not do (3 if you include the manga.) That's just how I'm looking at it, though.

If she is that powerful, why she didnt go to defeat the demon king? She said magic is a tool for killing but she didnt try to defeat the demon king. Serie disciple also said frieren is the one that will defeat the demon king not serie herself. She is just a living grimoire, doesnt mean she can utilize it well like frieren.

@@inozen3234 as a manga reader i can confirm that Serie is a legendary monster. even frieren say in the manga that Serie is way more stronger than her, like comparing a kid with a titan. for example, in the manga, there is a enemy so powerful that even frieren needed to run for her life, but for Serie, it was just esay money.

11:18 idk if you guys notice it, but that bird Stille is casually hop in Sense hand like nothing. It means her control of mana is beyond everyone else. Even Frieren has to completely stand still to be able to do that. But sensie casually doing that while moving.

Serie is all she's made out to be. Yes, she literally knows those spells, season presumably (if it follows the manga as closely as season 1) shows a bit more of Serie. She's an order of magnitude more powerful than Frieren (careful not to spoil too much) and also a lot older. Much much older. Remember Kraft? He remarked earlier that Frieren is "young" (by elven standards)

Think of the spells in this episode for instance. We have (I forgot the name) that allows Wirbel to catch anything it can fully see. Frieren used kind of the same binding spell but it only worked in a range of 50 cm and it was limited to things looking like birds. But essentially they were very similar spells. So if you apply that to all spells you could end up with double or triple versions of the same thing. So who's to say how many spells there are in total...

So the strategy of suppressing your mana works even on humans. Enhri would have most likely chosen to dodge and not just try to tank all the spells Fern ws throwing. Once she could no longer dodge 2 bc the spells were coming from all around her, Fern ramped up the power and amount. Enhri lost the second she underestimated Fern.

@ it is to you who already knows that Frieren knows Serie and have seen this scene, so you now what to look for and when, but to someone watching for the first time and reading the text, Serie’s name (as usually happens due to English/japanese sentence differences) comes much earlier than Richter says it. Again, what’s obvious to you may not be obvious to someone else. How many details have you caught on rewatches of this show that you didn’t notice the first time? Let people enjoy their show

Meanwhile, she is just strong and elevated enough to be true and honest to herself. She is more free than any of us! I adore her for that. On the other hand. I can't decide about Übel. I believe with someone like her. We got to use some unsual methods towards her to get some result. " her mind must not function like a person's"
