That gasket looks still in reasonable condition after being in storage since 1776. Engine is coming along nicely Mike. Getting closer.

Valve cover gaskets are a bitch to put on. I’ve ripped a few myself. The blue adhesive is a good idea.

mike is my insperation to get work done on mine just converted my 300 disco engine from electronic pump to mechanical what an absolute doddle need to sort one of the injector pipes as hitting the fuel lift pump apart from that all is good had a sticky start stop valve as pump been sitting a long time but all good now cheers mike

Hi Mike Could I ask for your professional opinion please. I’ve got a 300tdi defender engine which has had the air filter bracket taken off and I need to put one back on…. And on the other hand I’ve got a discovery engine that I want to also put a defender air filter bracket on. As you know this entails undoing two head bolts, what would you think would be the best practice, simply undo the two or all of them???? I’m unsure to say the least. 🤔
