I think David attributes it to ongoing guilt over her parents death, what happened when she was alone doing drugs with Rob, and more recently David's wandering eyes. Throwing David's watch down the well locked him in because only Adele (Rob) knew when he stole money from his sister where he was headed. If David went to the constable now he's being looked at as a multiple murderer cause they investigated him for the fire. But nobody knew Rob was there so why bring trouble? But once the drug use resumes in addition to quirks, comments, past life things Louise (Rob) is bound to start unconsciously doing once they are comfortable, David is going to think he's losing his mind. I think the son is safe except he'll be neglected until he can really push to live with his dad. Rob only has obsessive affection for David, bed time stories and playing in the park are gone.

He's a monster. I'm a firm believer that you should NEVER keep anyone around that wants your life or anything or anyone in it. If you can't escape them completely if you're related to them just keep them at a distance as much you can. But keeping jealous ppl too close is dangerous you don't know what ppl are capable of when they become too envious. This also shows how David is still a shitty husband despite the fact that Adele is dead apparently if her personality changed he would rather cheat on her a million times than leave her. He's trash too.

Frenemy. Gaslighter extraordinaire! To think I felt bad for him, thinking he had come to an untimely end and was the only person helping Adele get through. I was 150% ready to throw Adele under the bus, then come to find out, guess who's driving. I have to say kudos, to the writers, they had me at Louise and David meeting. I thought Louise was causing contention. No one has clean hands in this tale.

I don’t think you have to put a point on it. Rob hates what he is and is envious of others. If he could’ve taken over David’s body and been with Adele he would’ve but David never would’ve been open to the astral projection thing. He moved on to plan B. I guess many people didn't anticipate this plot twist, I understood the second they showed out of body experiences, the fact that Rob said he wanted to know what being rich and beautiful like Adele felt like, that was hint enough.
