During the canning process of meats, it will essentially create a broth from teh meat. When the can cools down to room temperature the fat and broth will separate. Since the meat is cooked in the can, the natural water from the juices in the meat does not evaporate as it does when you cook meat on the stove or in the oven.

Keystone Beef is awesome. Dump the entire contents (juice & fat included) into a saucepan. Simmer until all the juices are reabsorbed back into the meat, then use. The ground beef has a different texture than cooked fresh ground beef. We had a flood Aug. 23rd. I lost about $2,000 in Keystone and Graybill meat. My nephew makes bbq pork sandwiches with the pork. I've only had beef, chicken, and turkey. I live in Ohio, and it's more cost effective to buy from Walmart than directly from Keystone. The ingredient list sold me - beef, salt - nothing else.

The Keystone beef is great for 1-2 people, when you don't want to cook a whole beef roast. Hot beef sandwiches with mashed potatoes and gravy. Burritos. Beef and noodles. There are endless ways to use it. The ingredients are beef and sea salt. Honestly, it would probably be difficult to find anything healthier and safer. Sometimes, I've wondered about some of the fresh meat I've seen at grocery stores,

I've never eaten commercial canned meat, except tuna and salmon, but I can beef and chicken often. There is always juice that is released from the meat during the high heat (240 degrees) processing. If the meat is fairly lean you don't get so much fat. It's not like fresh, but definitely good enough for a quick meal. No defrosting, no simmering.

Since these cans are saying no water added, I'm going to assume they canned the meat similar to when I can meat in mason jars at home. When I can meat I put the meat in raw, I will typically throw a little salt in there and then put them in the pressure canner. When I pull the jars out they are filled with the juices and what fat was in the meat. It's almost like magic when you haven't ever seen it done before, in fact, you might want to try it sometime. I was canning my own chicken when I was buying it in bulk and then I can the venison shanks since they are so sinewy and have all that connective tissue that canned in a pressure canner the meat just falls apart and makes for some great meat for chili and such. Growing up my mom would can chunks of beef and then for a quick dinner (totally not keto) she would put it in a pan to heat up, make the broth/juices into gravy and then would have mashed potatoes and another vegetable and dinner was served. I even remember a few times it was the canned meat and gravy and bread. Ya gotta do what ya gotta do and my mom was great at stretching the dollar but every so often meals were a little on the "lean" side so to speak. Anyway, I'm only a few minutes into the video so I'm going to watch the rest.

I got the sliced beef (on sale), ground beef, chicken and turkey in the 28oz cans at Walmart. I opened the beef right away because it's on sale and I wanted to get some more while it's on sale if it's good. It's _very_ good. I had some in a bowl straight from the can and heated in the microwave. It's very rich and almost hard to believe it's not seasoned in any way. It's savory enough to use as a soup base, I'd say. This morning, having opened up that 28oz can already (and there's just me), I made a beef fajita omelet with some of it and some mixed peppers, pepperjack cheese and avocado. It was also _very_ good. I highly recommend Keystone Meets' sliced beef, particularly for storage and rotation purposes in case of unexpected events. If you had to, you could eat it right out of the can, and it actually tastes good!

I may be wrong, but I think the first canned food was Van Camp's Pork and Beans, so I'd guess humans ate out of cans before feeding cats and dogs from it. It was a revolutionary invention, and I hoard canned meats of various kinds for the zombie apocalypse (and yes, I regularly eat them, for the necessary rotation process.) PS: Glad you're impressed. I'll consider rotating them in! It's very cool to see that they have them at my Walmart! I just ordered all four available varieties for pickup (along with some other things I was going to go there to buy.)

I found your reviews and recipes interesting but was fascinated with Colton, so big already and such a serious smart kid and great helper (and guest reviewer). Congratulations!!

Thank you for the review!! It really helps the rest of us not to waste our money if the hype isn’t worth it! Again, appreciated ❤

Thanks so much for this review! Every thought that went through my mind you actually verbalized. It’s good to know there’s is some decent canned meat product out there if needed. I would never have tried it without your review.

Thanks Steve! Love the review. Seems strange that Keystone would send you the samples and then not communicate when you tried to reach them. Regardless - your cooked up recipes looked great!

I wonder if their "influencer relations" person moved on from the company or something...

I've been disabled for almost 20 years and before grocery delivery was a thing I had to order all my food from Walmart and it would be shipped via UPS. This, Spam and Walmart's brand of canned chicken was all I could get. The turkey was my favorite. The beef is OK but it's really hard and needs to be broken down quite a bit but it tasted good. I think the beef is much more course than Taco bell meat. Yes, I rinse all the meat with hot water before I cook it. The pork is alright but I thought it was kind of dry.

@@lennybuttz2162 I eat it with all the juice that’s in the can . It’s just the juice of the meat.and the fat .

Great review, I have used the beef in the past to make a stew adding a can of mushrooms and some beef keto chow, it is very good.

I have bought Keystone meats for years now. I used to can a lot of different meats because I lived 6 years with no refrigerator. Canned meats are good to have on hand in case of emergencies. Loved you doing this review!

Thank you for the honest review. Nothing to be afraid of with only two ingredients (meat and sea salt) and your incredibly delicious recipes!

I’ve tried several different brands of canned pork, and it’s wonderful. After desert storm, our schools got cases and cases of canned pork and we would make pork gravy on mashed potatoes. That was in the good old days when the kids actually got real food. Since then I have tried other brands and they really are good now, other than tuna and chicken I haven’t tried any either. So it will be interesting to see what you think.

Wow, good to know. I would have stayed clear from that if I saw it in the store. It definitely has that Alpo look when you first opened the can. After it's cooked, I don't think you can tell the difference between canned and fresh cut meat.

I can vouch for the apparent freshness and savory taste. I made a fajita omelet with it this morning and it was great!
