It is gorgeous, especially at night. Unfortunately, that cluster is also the bike's Achilles heel. They did a bad job of sealing them and they often need replaced due to moisture damage. Costs a bit to replace, too, because the odometer needs to be set and authenticated. I keep a gallon ziploc bag with a magnet in each of its corner to cover the guages in case I get caught in the rain. My speedometer currently works intermittently so I'm having the shop add some silicone caulk to seal the new one before installation.

I love Yamaha motorcycles. My friends mom had one when I grew up and her husband had a roadstar 1700. Beautiful bikes going down the road. Was great watching them smoke the Harley that rode with us. Granted I was in a 250 ninja and left in the dust as well lol. I purchased a Roadstar Silverado back in 2019. I love it. Like this bike it has great power at lower rpm. The price couldn’t be beat. I got mine for 3500 with 32k. All the Harley’s I was looking at made significantly less power and was still in the 6k range with double the miles. I’d love to get a stratoliner myself to have a bigger cruiser for even longer hauls. But the roadstar works well for my size as well being only 150lbs myself. I digress, great review on the bike was very nice to watch this. Very informative and as you said the bike is amazing in itself. Yamaha does a great thing with them and I’m glad they don’t hold a high value. Makes for a great inexpensive bike that will run flawless for long periods of time with little to no maintenance. And can also be fun when you rip the throttle.

Super Great Video !!! I saw one on line up in northern Ohio for sale fully decked out and he dropped the price to $4500 going into winter. So I bought it. A 2007 Stratoliner S in Black Cherry with only 12K on her. He had bought the many extras chrome pieces when new that deck out the bike even more. You can't even find those pieces now to purchase. I am very lucky and I love it - I'm 6' and 255 lbs. so this bike fits me well. It does have lots of power but its smooth and I think pretty easy to drive but at slow speeds it can be hard to keep upright if not careful. I changed the oil myself this fall after watching some videos on it. It has 3 drain plugs. Since at 18K I needed to change the gear oil. This is not easy to do as you have to take off the pipes to get to the drain plug. I am in the process of doing that today. So if you guys want a big cool bike for not many $$$ give the Stratoliner a look. I LOVE it. Safe riding. Tim - Ohio

It weighs 632lbs curb weight and has 64hp....that's the nice thing about metric bikes...they have the durability to handle 100K miles with proper service and it's a 75 degree V Twin 1063cc. It's the bike Harley tried to Sue Yamaha over for sounding too much like a Harley. Come to find out, you can't patent a sound lol. My Goldwing's 1800cc (Actually LARGER Than Advertised at 1832cc) is putting out 119.65hp but it's tipping the scales with all the gear, tools and accessories at around 950lbs. But, Oh what a ride. What a great bike! I miss riding. A few years back I had several close calls caused by cell phone distracted drivers and got to the point where I was spending way too much time looking for them and not enough time just enjoying the ride. Then I saw one of those ER shows where a rider was cut off by just such a driver, laid his bike down and slid about 100 feet into a gas station sign. His injuries caused the amputation of both his hands and feet, and a week later he had a stroke which complicated his recovery to the point of "why even bother". Add the fact that I'm quite a bit older than when I started riding, and I adhere to the Bonnie Raitt song line "Life gets mighty precious when there's less of it to waste", and that was the final decider. But I sure do miss it. Enjoy it while you are still young, Wizard.

Beautiful Strat Wizard! I started riding 11 years ago. Started on an 04' Yamaha V-Star 650 Classic, then moved up to a 2012 Yamaha V-Star 950 Tourer which I've had from new and still currently ride today. Just like your Strat, it has the factory touring package so it came with the windscreen, back rest and leather saddle bags. It's fuel injected, air cooled and belt driven. I taught my wife to ride around 2012 and she too started out on a Yamaha V-Star 650 Classic which she still rides today. Folks can say what they want about "metric" or "Jap Scrap" bikes etc. as opposed to H-D, but I'm partial to Yamaha. There's not been a single day in 11 years where they failed to start. I've only been left on the side of the road once and that was for the 1st time approx. two weeks ago and that was due to battery that developed a bad cell causing me to lose all power in the electrical system. But, it was the original battery from 2012! I keep both bikes on a tender year round and it certainly helps prolong battery life. Good luck with your new bike, I'm certain it will serve you well.

Very nice!! Always found the art deco styling to be unique and timeless. Almost got one before I found my Honda F6B. Gotta love a big bore cruiser!

I subscribed just because you bought this motorcycle. I'm taking my Roadliner S on a cross state road trip this weekend.

Welcome to the family, Bro! I own a 2014 Strat S, and it's basically a Roadliner most of the time, and a fully touring Stratoliner when I need it to be. I have two different height windshields, (Memphis lowers for buffeting), and a full-face helmet for riding without one at all, obviously the sissy bar is detachable, and I made the bags truly detachable without that ugly ass bar underneath. With the back seat removed, it just looks like a monster, -especially after I lowered it-, and with aftermarket exhaust and updated intake this thing screams. I've told plenty of Harley dudes that if they want me to own a Harley so bad, let's race for pinks.

I did de-emblem mine. it's got enough of what I call Cadillac style already so I had to "mean it up" just a little bit.

I own a 2006 Roadliner and I punked a Harley half my size. He lives in my neighborhood and he tried to punk me on the highway. I shot by him like he was sitting still. He had a shocked look on his face.

I have a 2014 Yamaha Raider! Your bike, with thinner lines and a slightly raked out fork! Same engine and drive train, same monsterous power plant placed on a stripped down chassis devoid of windshield, fairing, saddlebags,or any other weight downs! A real muscle cruiser!!! Love to go for a cruise with you...we have the same engine!!!

Thanks for posting this. Recently found a Roadliner for sale, but sort of hesitate to trade my Honda Interstate. This is very informative and helpful for someone looking to buy one of these Yamaha's.

I've got a blue '09 with 15k miles and had a sliver '14. Love these bikes. Wish they had larger fuel capacity though. Been cross country in them several times great bikes.

Thanks for the bike video Wizard. Know you don't want to ruffle feathers but what you left unsaid was that your Yamaha will out last the 'others' hands down. You'll be on the road for years with minimum outlay. Love your channel, Cheers, Ivan in Canada.

08680868 I bought one new, 2008. 60000km, no problems what so ever. I strongly regret trading that bike in for a FJR. Nowadays, I drive a K 1600 GTL 2018, and a 2008 Road King Classic.
