It looks like the knob was smacked in transit which cracked the area that it was mounted thus resulting in probably some wiring damage inside. I doubt this was prior to shipping and someone let it pass through inspection.
@digital3609 ай бұрын
I thought that as well but there’s no mark on the top of the knob to indicate that. I really can’t say but you could be right.
@mdsnjms9 ай бұрын
@@digital360 if the knob was covered by the box the knob itself would probably not incur much damage, it just looks like it took a big hit in transit which is unfortunate.
@KiLLJOY10566 ай бұрын
@@digital360 There wouldn’t be a mark on the knob. It would be very silly to let that pass Quality Control, did you even check the package that was covering the knob to see if it was indented? Because it probably was. And it probably damage the wiring as well. Should have just contacted for a replacement and they would have gave you one, and I highly highly doubt Schecter sent it out that way. And to make a video like they did that when you have no idea that’s what happened is not a good look on you, I’ve never had an issue from schecter in all my years playing with them.
@digital3606 ай бұрын
I love all of my other Schecters - I have several, and they are a great brand. I did check all of the packaging and there were zero signs of damage to either the inner or other boxes. Oddly, I just received another Schecter (different model) yesterday with the same damage to the top wood surrounding the knob. This one I have requested to be replaced. These things can certainly happen during shipping and long after QC in-house. I just wanted to share my experience to show that even us KZbinrs can get a damaged or imperfect items. Just a roll of the dice once shipping companies get involved in the equation.

Shipping damage. If the box has no damage it was probably tossed and landed flat and the impact pushed the volume knob into the body resulting in the wood damage and faulty wiring.

Definitely a send back situation due to the knob. As an electronics tinkerer I would probably figure out the wiring issue myself, but the preamp on the pickup could be bad too. The main thing keeping me from reaching for the 7 and 8 versions of these guitars is the terrible placement of the pickup. The 6 string version looks near perfect for my taste, but would just be too redundant for what I already have.
@digital3609 ай бұрын
All good points. Yeah I just figure it’s brand new and shouldn’t have come I. That condition. Luckily I will be getting a replacement pretty soon. Regarding the 7 and 8 I just don’t much care for fan fret or multi scale necks. I may check one out for the channel just for kicks.

Every Schecter I have (and I currently have 6) has been absolutely amazing out of the box. That is definitely a shipment issue. It took a hard knock on the volume knob. I had to return two guitars because of FEDEX and this exact same situation. One was a Schecter 7 string, and it played beautifully. Unfortunately, the box took a hard hit at some point and the volume and tone knob got smashed into the body. Zzounds is notorious for this, but they have the best payment plans.
@digital3609 ай бұрын
See the funny thing is I don’t see any indication of either the inner or outer boxes having sustained any damage such as creases in the boxes. Weird issue but I’m getting it resolved with zZounds. 👍 I still love my other Schecters!🎸

With current QA situation, I'm actually surprised when anybody receives a playable instrument without flaws :D Last year ordered 7 or 8 guitars, kept only 2. Others: 1 returned because I did not like TOM bridge, 4-5 returned because they had some problems (broken pickups, cracks, wrong scale length/bridge placement etc). What I have experienced with Fishmans: they eat battery much quicker than EMGs and also they have statistically more QA issues. But sound and versatility are good anyway :)
@digital3609 ай бұрын
It’s always a toss up whether or not one will receive a perfect instrument I suppose. Yeah I’m also not a big fan of TOM bridges. I thought it was just me that noticed how Fishmans eat batteries like skittles. Lol

@peterbatten5968 ай бұрын
@@digital360 lmao. Touché. But before I pulled the trigger on a custom Kiesel 9 string, I had the schecter damien 9 platinum plus and you could tell it was FedEx. The box literally had imprints of the tone pots on the out most layer. Opened it up and they were jammed in and a pickup popped half off with that impact. I had to buy that model straight from their site since 9 strings really weren’t and still aren’t in quantities for your major retailers and I understand, it’s a niche. But after I took a quick video and emailed it to Schecter, I have to give credit where it’s indeed due. Not only did they get me a shipping label to send back right away, I asked for them to ship it in a case and they gave me half off a nice case that fit it and sent my return before they even received mine. But I gotta say, I’m kind of upset I ran into your channel because I already bought 2 guitars this year and seeing how they brought back the black ops line and I’m a sucker for the Tele and most designs you wouldn’t normally see in metal, now I have to go talk with my wallet again and console it on why it’s a “need”. I don’t think it’s believed a word I said for some years now. Definitely got a new sub here. Keep up the good work!

Unless you're really into the 1 pickup configuration, Schecter has other guitars that fit that criteria. Any of the SLS Elite series have ss frets, fishman, and top of the line hardware. The Reaper Elite doesnt have Fishman pickups but ticks the other boxes, same with Reaper Custom. Outside of Schecter its getting bleak though

Just wanted to say I have a new Epi SG Prophecy with Fishman Fluence pickups, and I have the same problem but with voicing 1 instead of 3. First of all I want to say that on paper this is a dream guitar for me. I love Schecter's Thin C neck and the other specs sounds great - love a PT metal version with Fishman's. However there is one thing with many of Schecter's neck that I really dislike and that is open pores. Somehow it always annoys me and to me feels like imperfections although this is offcause not intended at all. So my question to you is whether or not you felt the open pores while playing. Thanks in advance. Best regards from Denmark
@digital3609 ай бұрын
I personally don’t mind the open pore neck but it does give it a very slightly textured feel. I can understand that some people don’t enjoy that. I also prefer the super smooth satin necks more generally. Also I’m not a fan of painted necks. I like to see the natural wood colors no matter what wood is used.

So much for QC. Schecter has had an uphill battle against bigger name companies for decades. Now that they are getting their justly deserved recognition, this is a travesty they don't need. Whether it's in their house, one of their authorized vendors, or one of their parts suppliers, they need to know about this.

okay so just because of a little shipping damage, (WHICH IS ALWAYS A GAMBLE! NO MATTER WHAT U ORDER) and an electrical issue shouldn't mean the whole complete guitar is s**t..... ok, for the price yes you do expect everything to be working electronically, but sometimes it happens, and thats ok. because the guitar comes with a 2 year warranty! send it back for free! even will get a new guitar probably because of body damage! big whoop you'll have to wait another 4 days to receive a new one.... also your review is completely lacking ANY information that has to do with the way the guitar feels when playing. Action set up, intonation, neck dive, smooth frets, ergonomics. you completely based your opinion on first initial looks, then throughout your video you shred on the guitar, then say.. yea... its s**t. i felt to comment this because there are people who actually watch reviews on products not to hear people b***h at small unrelated things and actually learn serious information about the product. please do more with your future videos, take more time to explain everything about the product next time. hope this helps
