Not able to talk because of a traech, but we played this song for him and he calmed right down and mouthed the words! A break through! He even was so calmed by it he fell asleep. Music you love never gets forgotten. Thanks to Serj Tankian and System, and even Scars on Broadway, he mouthed whole song of they say TOO! Progress we've yet to see. Yesterday, I saw a picture of two Palestinian babies, one was a toddler and the other an infant. I looked away immediately but it's burned into my mind now. Today on my playlist this came up and I've been trying not to burst into tears for the last 3 or so hours. I feel utterly helpless but I can't fathom what so many must feel like having lost family that way.

It's eerie how relevant his music still is. Honestly more should listen to this. I am not sure what helps... and if this even stands chance of making a difference. But many of his songs, like Borders are, Empty Walls, Harakiri... all are soo right when it comes to the current state of the world... maybe share them with your friends, who also like his music... or would like it. Explain how it makes you feel. One doesn't have to be a revolutionary to change stuff... and one doesn't have to bear the weight of the entire world to not feel helpless

What a great song to describe the situation going on now. And with the children playing I see two things. American culture with the distillation of war since the time we were kids, like normalizing death over seas. Or like that these soldiers and people who are being killed were just once kids. It is also like kids could play like this here but in other parts of the world children don't have this play and actually live in fear 24/7. Anyway showing innocence to discuss a not innocent topic is pretty moving.

This song is one of my favorites, not just from Serj, but of all time. I love the song, and also the message behind it. It's nice Serj hides messages like this in all of his songs. Also, I love this music video, it's so deep and it screams WAR.

Lyrics: Your empty walls, Your empty walls, Pretentious adventures, Dismissive apprehension, Don't waste your time, On coffins today, When we decline, From the confines of our mind, Don't waste your time, On coffins today... Don't you see their bodies burning? Desolate and full of yearning, Dying of anticipation, Choking from intoxication, Don't you see their bodies burning? Desolate and full of yearning, Dying of anticipation, Choking from intoxication, I want you to be left behind those empty walls, Told you to see from behind those empty walls... Those empty walls, When we decline, From the confines of our mind, Don't waste your time, On coffins today... Don't you see their bodies burning? Desolate and full of yearning, Dying of anticipation, Choking from intoxication, Don't you see their bodies burning? Desolate and full of yearning, Dying of anticipation, Choking from intoxication, I want you to be left behind those empty walls, Told you to see from behind those empty walls, Want you to be left behind those empty walls, I told you to see from behind those empty walls, From behind those empty walls, From behind those empty walls, The walls! From behind those empty walls... I loved you yesterday, (From behind those empty walls...) Before you killed my family, (From behind those empty walls, the walls...) Don't you see their bodies burning? Desolate and full of yearning, Dying of anticipation, Choking from intoxication, Don't you see their bodies burning, Desolate and full of yearning, (I want you...) Dying of anticipation, Choking from intoxication, (To be left behind those empty...) I want you to be left behind those empty walls, Told you to see from behind those empty walls, (Desolate and full of yearning, Dying of anticipation, Choking from intoxication...) I love the platform of music, created by these intelectuals with expression without bounderies. No ties on any form, literarly freedom, but putting in the present context. I miss the old days! Where globalisme isn't covering the thruth of the pressent.

Every single reference on this video quickly summarised. - Serj is dressed throughout the video as Uncle Sam, but without the american colors (kind of representing US politicians). The video is treating how the war is a "children´s game" from their view. - 0:00 reference to the US department of homeland security and the national terrorism advisory system. - 0:20 reference to the 9-11 terrorist attacks on the Twin Towers. - 0:50 mobilisation for war (1:05 war). - 1:24 reference to night operations in Afghanistan and Iraq. - 1:58 the toppling of the Statue of Hussein in Iraq. - 2:22 lots of prisions around Iraq and Afghanistan used for the interrogation of prisioners, with a lot of controversy. - 2:30 reference to the Abu Ghraib prison. Theres a lot of controversy for when the US used it for torturing and abuse prisioners. The particular reference of the kid is when the US tortured an Iraqi via electrocution which made it worldwide. - 2:40 US soldiers forcibly entering the people´s homes to detain a suspect, sometimes ending with him being killed in front of his family. - 3:03 towards the end of the video, one of the kids commits a "suicide mission" against one of the US bases, causing an explosion (the confetti is the debris/blood/dust) and him and the US soldiers falling to the ground. - 3:28 a bell sounds in the distance. It suddently brings the whole "playground" to reality. All the children and "Uncle Sam" go to the window to observe the funeral of an US soldier, probably from the previous attack. "Uncle Sam" looks worried and sad at the funeral. This last part can be interpretated as the media reporting the tragedy commited on them, while taking the rest of the things of the video as "less meaningfull", or not related to them. Thank you for reading up to here. Will look at your comments to complete it.

Those kids must be teenagers or young adults now. I wish they are able to watch themselves and be aware they were the luckiest children in the world for having recorded a videoclip with Serj Tankian.

:22 it's the Twin Towers 1:04 the beginning of the war with the Middle East 2:00 pulling down Saddam Hussein's statue 2:10 the US 1st believed they'd killed Saddam Hussein so "mission accomplished, they saved Iraq" 2:26 unfair imprisonment for anyone who was believed to be a terrorist or threat to the nation 2:33 the Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq were many "terrorists" were tortured by US forces, even though they didn't have enough evidence to do so 3:05 I'm sure its a car bomb The censorship during Bush's administration, they banned media from showing caskets of the fallen soldiers, etc. Many life's were unjustly lost in the war with Iraq.
