Serj Tankian is a genius and he is my hero. After years of listening to him he's helped me see the world. It is true most people are unthinking of what they here. This song is defiantly true on all fronts. It's defiantly a piece of art.

The thing i really enjoy with Serj Tankian videos. (other then the artist and music obviously) They are for the most part the only place i can find heated and yet educated debates that aren't about something completely stupid. Way to combat the unthinking majority, such the case of little kids complaining that this video is 'poorly made' the idea behind it is pretty damn amazing, take in the simplicity, people.
@HamannGeorg10 жыл бұрын
I find this astonishing, for I can find nothing poor in this video. On the contrary I find it great. It is simple but abstract and in it's coldness makes me just shiver down the spine. It has the surreal feeling of a nightmare about it. Do people no longer understand art?

+Foxy Foxy Depression is the result of a bad life, fixing the problem is hard and complicated but medication is cheap, easy and profitable and makes people less likely to change the world and just accept how screwed we are.
@JSal-rp3gw9 жыл бұрын
Samuel Swenson Not necessarily, depression can be further triggered by bad events but it is mainly due to a imbalance of the neurotransmitters dopamine and/seratonin. Some people are born that way and thus more prone to major depression. I realize after writing my first comment a month ago that the medication (Bupoprion HCl) has definitely helped me keep my emotions and suicidal thoughts in control. Nevertheless, I just want to say I absolutely feel like a hypocrite because I always saw myself as never needing medication because eventually things will work out on their own. But after so many years and constant setbacks, I needed to resort to it. I'm thankful for it and yet I am afraid because now I do not know if I can live without it.
@samuelswenson15059 жыл бұрын
+J. Salas I'm aware of what medication does and I was on it for a few months. I felt pretty good while on it but when I stopped taking it all the problems I had been ignoring became glaringly obvious. I believe that if you are depressed there is a real reason why subconsciously the hard part is finding the real reason behind your depression.
@JSal-rp3gw9 жыл бұрын
Samuel Swenson I can see that. Logically, I just never had a good reason to feel depressed. I don't fit the normal criteria of a depressed person (I work out every day and have great family and friends) but it was my overwhelming desire to be perfect caused me to crash. No one really instilled that mindset in me but myself until it went out of control. At the very least, we are not uneducated and do not blindly follow something because we are told to. Like you, I don't intend on being on the meds for too long either

Dude do you know what words are? He's talking about the good ole US has citizens fucked up on the next drug, pharma, tv, social media, celebrities, etc while the government claims war on what they say is unmoral persons like the Iraqi people, and we let them, therefore we are the unthinking majority. The music video shows how we fight for oil, and how the US comes in to "save the day" but the people they save don't want to be saved, because it's their country. It's like they're confused as to why people are there forcing their beliefs on them. That's why the girl went to help her countries soldier and she got killed too. Talk about unmoral.

That video looks so low bugdet. Still a great song with a great message. And it's true; one of the major reasons the the US invade Iraq was to gain control of the nation's crude oil. In fact, one of the first things that was secured after the initial invasion wasn't any military installations but the oil fields, with Texas oil workers brought in to insure continued production
@willywonka976811 жыл бұрын
as someone who protested the Iraq war when you could hear the drums beating for it in 2002... we were called crazy for saying it was blood for oil.. and to this day im asked 'wheres all that oil you said we were getting' with smart ass smirks... to which I reply , ' I don't know, why don't you ask exxon, shell, or haliburton... I never said they were taking it for the good of the American people' :) saddam was a very bad man indeed.. one who had a lot of sanctions against his country full of oil .. couldn't change the man to get the oil, change the government instead ;)

I think Serj doesn't like to spend a lot of money on his videos because he knows he can be spending that kind of money on more resourceful things. As much as he sings about government corruption, it would be pretty hypocritical for him to use so much wealth on his own videos.

Really ? control oil ? YOUR A SHEEP , believing anything your SIDE tells you , the U.S gained nothing to do with oil from the Iraq war , gas was about 1.70 a gallon before the war , now its 3,65 a gallon if the U.S controlled the oil or gained any kind of advantage about oil , the price would be lower , do you know who produces the most oil in the world ? The U.S , do you know who has the most oil ? again The U.S , we just also use the most , and also a lot is off limits for drilling , Ill explain the simple facts of the WHY of Iraq war , Barrack's cousin Saddam had attacked Kuwait already , Iran was his next target , if he had been allowed to grow and attack Iran it would have started WWIII and the end of the earth , was Bush completely honest ? NO !! why ?? lets look at history , Americans love to be isolationist , before WW I we sat and let the Kaiser over run Europe until the Lusitania was sank , then Americans realized he would attack here, before WW II we let Hitler over run Europe and Tojo Asia , until attacked , Americans do not want to involve in what they think will not effect them , until they realize their freedom is at stake they will not allow our government to act globally , Bush did the right thing , he stopped mass death before the third world war could start , like we should have stopped the Kaiser , and Hitler and Tojo, the oil in all Arab countries is in control of the Arabs , A VERY SMALL PERCENTAGE OF ARABS !! , who do nothing for their countries, and other citizens , then they use the Arab propaganda news agencies to blame everyone except the greedy criminals who control all that money , ARABS , its Arabs enslaving Arabs , its Muslims killing Muslims , so learn history and look at all news sources , when you do you find patterns of truth and lies and you can make a proper statement on the facts !!
@JJM8C4J11 жыл бұрын
One of the first things secured was oil installations during the invasions, because oil is the primary economic infrastructure of Iraq. Saddam knew he couldn't defeat the Coalition, so one of the first things his army did was try to destroy the oil fields and bring down the country with them. Oil fields are a military asset, you seize military assets from a hostile country. That's how war is fought, that's this thing called 'modern war'. If you want a pitched battle with a few hundred thousand casualties, go visit 700 A.D.

"depression" and other mental illnesses are in large part due to external forces at work in the unnatural society in which we live. There is a natural factor of course, but I think we are more products of our environment than anything else. Just look at all the vets that come back from military action that suffer from PTSD. They get recruited into the system, and they're normal (for the most part). When they come back, a large number suffer from mental problems and get hooked to pills. It's all a part of the military/industrial/pharmaceutical industry and it's a vicious cycle - but hey, it keeps the economy moving!! PROGRESS!

Avagant; interpretation of this song might vary. I mean, media are controlling public opinion, so the unthinking majority do what she's supposed to do, and vote for who she's supposed to vote. In the US case, that candidate was most probably Hillary Clinton... but well, both candidates were corrupted as fuck, the only differences were the lobbies behind those two. If voting really had the power to change something, it would have been forbidden a long time ago 😉

once again Serj you come through with not only a powerful message that quickly and efficiently gets distributed around the rock-metal culture, you also succeed in creating a catchy and in your face sound as heard in our favorite metal band, System Of A Down. being only 15, im fairly ignorant to political issues. but, thanks to System and you, i have a little better understanding of how the world stands right now. keep it coming.

My interpretation is that hes pointing out all the problems and depressing things in the world that lead us to "depression" and cause people to have to take anti-depressants...not that we all take them...

I always got more enjoyment from this song if I changed it to "making life more tolerable, making life more dullerable"

This video must've been hard to make, not because of the actual animations used. But for the creativity put into it, which is an unrealistic amount. Way to go again, Serj.

It's hard to refuse, it's also hard to quit. Not taking the first smoke or taking the last can be big changes. If you want help stopping, try getting a new hobby or just stop. You may lose some friends but you gain your health and life choices. I have been hated by my friends for not smoking with them, about 80% of my friends smoke. It's hard to say no... But I know it will destroy me if I say yes.
