I dont think Serj is the only one. I recognize other artists do this, but I'm speaking about Serj. This song gets me every single time I listen to it. Serj is a true poet, and amazing vocalist. As for the message, I feel like people look down on the homeless, and completely turn a blind eye to their own imperfections and shitty habits. The children at the end don't see the man as a person to be judged, instead they were empathetic and wanted to help.

You know, nobody knows what landed a person on the streets. It's often self-inflicted, drugs, alcohol etc. but not always. Mental health, domestic abuse, economic ruin - a lot of things can land you on the streets. And even when it's drugs or alcohol, there's usually something traumatic behind the addiction. We should all stop being so judgemental at least without knowing the facts. If Bernie Madoff ended up on the streets, I wouldn't mind, but most people don't deserve that fate. BTW - this song rocks.

I have no homeless people near me, and it makes me happy for alot that they have a roof over their heads... but too many people i know edge closer and closer... I wish I had money to give them, and i wish they didnt have to deal with this. But whenever they say they are homeless, I tell them they are wrong. So long as your heart is beating and you can love and see the good in yourself and others, you are not homeless, you are houseless... Your soul is within you and the caring feeling you get is truly your home.

Well Im someone who would not mind sharing a house with someone like that. The biggest issue with this at the time was my friend from Ohio was going homeless and nobody could help him too easily. Especialy myself with no car and being on a far half of Pennsylvania. I however got him a truck driver that could get his personal belongings incasse he had to loose them. Luckily someone loaned him a basement and he could stay off the streets long enough to get money for a new place to stay, and he was able to keep all his stuff.

Come to Portland Oregon and tell me you feel pity for every homeless person. Homelessness is a shame and a problem, however a lot of them do it to themselves through endless poor choices, addictions and bad habits. I do think more people need to help them but a lot of people talk about helping but never do. My mother passed away last year in the streets because the new Mayor of Portland decided to cut a lot of programs helping the mentally ill homeless. She overdosed in a homeless camp downtown. People need to start helping each other as well as themselves. Everyone is so damned busy with their self-importance; they only claim to want to help when they feel bad or when it makes them look good. Ever invite a friend in off the streets to eat and shower in your home? I have. Get out and help someone instead of typing, texting, tweeting or blogging about it!

I have seen many movies that people claim to be sad and I never had an emotional connection, but this video has a very strong message I felt that emotional connection. I give Serj Tankian and Kevin Estrada great thanks in producing this video. Very great acting by the homeless man as well. Serj is just amazing. I think he's possibly my favourite modern artist. People talk of his octave range, but that's not the juice for me. It's the emotion he infuses into his singing, with that wonderful Armenian twist. And the uniqueness of his songwriting. Who sounds like Serj? Frankly, some people find his voice a little much at times (not me), but I just imbibe the mood and emotion. His songs give me such inspiration. In this song, another of my (about 50) fave songs of his, he sounds so grief ridden in the verse, positively desperate in the chorus, particularly the final chorus. Finally, I don't think I've seen a video of Serj's that hasn't been brilliant in and of itself. He's the thinking person's rock star. F^&king pop with its bubblegum song writing and saccharine lyrics! The biggest compliment I can pay Serj is - I don't give a sh*t about celebrity - I couldn't care less about meeting most so called rock stars, getting their autographs and fawning over their brilliance. But I would relish a chance to spend an hour over coffee with Serj because I just think it would be a fascinating conversation. Next time you're in Canberra, let's share a brew Serj!

This ending really gets me . There are so many children where this hope and love gets destroyed so quickly by their unloving and blind parents .. At this point I am so proud of my son. Such a loving being. The ONE AND ONLY doesn't exist, but in the physical world real human beings like me do. SO talked to a almost-homeless man, old, old-fart-care aint doing it for him, he takes 20 tablets a day he said, he mostly eats, shits and lies in his bed, he showed me his bags and all the stuff on him (in wheelchair). Antonov Stojan Another one, fell from the roof, 18 m he said (I think its alil exaggerated) lost his job, got pushed around and I found him on the street, they call him wolf, didn't give me his name found a mother-son in the station 1-2 AM. Were trying to go to some Refugee camp, didn't give these ones any money though, instead bought them from Mcdonalds (well SORRY, nothing was open) asked for hot milk, nopes, so I bought COLD O-Juice and a 9McNuggets, dont think there is anything else in there with better nutirition. Tried helping them with the trains and all, didn't know their language, used my hands. Its not difficult. Im Just over 20, but what I went through people seem to count equal with their bitchcrafting GF, asshole BF, mad/screaming parents. I ain't gonna write about me here. It's upsetting to know there's so many homeless people around the world and that some of the people who "have it all" won't give a little something to them to help them out. They're human beings just like the rest of us, they have needs. Most of the homeless people have to deal with the kind of stuff that no one should have to deal with and they're always wondering what their next meal is going to be. They don't get a comfortable bed at night with a proper roof over their heads for protection from the weather.

When I've heard this song for the first time back in 2008, I didn't understand a single word, didn't understand the video, probably because I was a mere school kid, and I remember that still reacted with sadness, it exuded a strong reaction from me. Paths down the memory lane brought me back here, now I understand english perfectly, and have an opinion about the ideas behind the video. It works just like it worked 15 years ago. You even made me tear up a bit, gosh dang it.
