I did the same with my car, using only a spanner. There's no need for lifting the car and removing the underguards. This was easy 👍

Cheers johnny, went out and did mine today without removing the covering underneath, pain in the arse getting the middle part on, definately need a long hook of some kind at least 50cm long to push, pull and press the belt. Good one.

If you jack it up, you have good access to the lower pulleys. I want to take the front off because my belt was extremely tight from day one - and I want to find out why.

When the tensioner is bad that it literally rocks/jumps, can that cause misfires? Or at least for the engine to think that it is misfiring because of course the timing will be off- which leads me to another question, can this result to p0016 code being thrown once then not anymore? For a better idea, the other morning, car cranked for like a quarter of a millisecond, basically just made a short noise like it’s cranking but car didn’t start, ran codes, threw p0016 (which means the correlation of blah blah blah is off), cleared it, right after- car started but with bad misfires. Hasn’t threw the code again, did a visual inspection and the tensioner is literally moving up and down about 2.5mm. Regardless I’m gonna replace the tensioner but the code it threw once has something to do with the timing chain, mechanics are telling me to take it Audi, nightmare.

Would you happen to have a diagram of this cars engine? I need to replace my serpentine belt but don't know exactly how it runs through the engine. Any help would be appreciated. I have a 2012 audi a4 2.0L fifth vin letter F. Thanks

Hi I just finished installing the new belt and tensioner. My new and old tensioner doesn’t have the 18 mm nut that moves the tensioner. How can I remove the pin from the new one I
@JohnnysSpeedShop2 жыл бұрын
There might be a 15mm or 16mm stub that sticks up some had this design....grab and open ended spanner/ wrench and move it back to release the pin.... cheers...J

Could anyway confirm if this belt could be the reason to why my lights dim and brighten up while driving. Tested my baterry and alternator, both reading fine. Battery 12 when engines off and 14 while engines running. No drop in power when revving the engine with electrics on like radio lights etc
@JohnnysSpeedShop4 жыл бұрын
wouldn't be the belt mate... most likely it's a bad ground, or a ground that's lose or has some corrosion, look for a wiring diagram for the headlights and locate all the grounds for testing... good luck !!

Problem with that method is difficulty checking pulleys and tensioners.

I have a 1998 A4 b5 2.8 L v6 quattro. My tensioner seems to only move towards the other pulleys causing the belt to tighten. How do I create slack
@JohnnysSpeedShop3 жыл бұрын
You gotta force it back the other way...they hold a fair amount of tension on the belt...

@@JohnnysSpeedShop I’ve used a lot of force to move it to the left and it just doesn’t move. I feel like I’m stripping the bolt.

Ohhhh. Be careful...you have a new belt ? Just cut the old one off and pull the auto tensioner out, something doesn't sound right with your setup..

@@JohnnysSpeedShop yeah I’ve been trying to get a new belt on. When I take a ratchet and 17mm and move the ratchet to the right it moves the tensioner to the right as well. Tightening the belt.

Good video. However, if you are a larger dude or chick and don’t have the longer tools required this method might as well be impossible. Save yourself the back ache and just Jack the car up and remove the belly pan. It was the only way I could get it done. Not to mention the rigidity of the new belt kept popping it off the crank pulley.
