This video is a lifesaver! My serpentine belt slips off during the rain if I go over a puddle, leaving me or family stranded. My teen watched this video and was able to put the serpentine belt back on. God bless you sir, we're eternally grateful ❤️

Just got a nice 2002 Buick Regal. Going to be installing my first ever serpentine belt. Mainly just looking at this video to see exactly where the tensioner pully is. But after seeing this video, it gives me full confidence that I can easily do it myself. Working on this 3.8L is a piece of cake compared to my last car. My last car kind of left a bad impression and gave me a bit of paranoia with servicing the engine myself. Thank you for this video!

[At 2:30] Very helpful demonstration of accessory belt replacement/reinstallation, showing several effective methods of aligning the belt with pulleys. Your suggestion to draw a diagram of belt travel through the pulleys (drawn on the radiator coolant reservoir) will be priceless to those whose engine's plastic "beauty cover" has been lost.

Way better than the 20 minute long video where the guy spends several minutes first explaining how you won't have a strut bar to remove unless you've personally installed it, and then spends several minutes removing the part that most won't have instead of cutting the video...

Great video man,i have done this a million times but ill be working on a car like this and wanted to see the procedure on it and the size of the bolt,excellent last comment about checking your pulley where your done, i ALWAYS do that, i "feel " the pulleys to see if that belt is seated correctly, last thing you want is to fire up a car and have that belt fly out and tear something up.

Hi, Thank you so much for this video it really showed me where I screwed up!! Omg.. so quick question. Since I literally unscrewed that 15mm bolt to release the belt while installing a new water pump and now I Can’t get the belt tight when putting it back on. I’ve tried too much to tighten this belt nd nothing seems to work. So should I just purchase a new pulley or do you have any suggestions to get this belt tight again? Thanks in Advice. Great video you have here by the way 😊 2005 SRX caddi

I had my old belt come off yesterday today I changed it and had white smoke come from the engine when I started it up and thought I had the belt rubbing against the alternator which it was a little bit so I adjusted it and started it back up again and still had white smoke coming be up from the engine what could be the problem I think the smoke is coming from vaporized coolant but I’m not sure

IMPORTANT NOTE TO BUICK 1998 LeSabre OWNERS-- Procedure shown in this video may apply to other GM 3.8L engines, but on the 1998 Buick LeSabre, the passenger side engine mount bracket PREVENTS alternator/accessory belt removal and replacement. Until that bracket is removed, the above video will not apply in every step. This video displays a warning to that effect-- check your manual for specifics. On KZbin, there is at least one belt removal video (published by 1A Auto) which shows the bracket removal steps.

@alienrockstar37886 жыл бұрын
Gosh damn, I can change a crank sensor, but I cant change a serpentine belt without watching a video. Actually drawing the diagram made it easy.. I dont have one of those under my hood. Sometimes you have to take out that spacer on the motor mount first. That's common on Buicks and other cars with a 3800. Takes an 18mmm deep well. Good way to do it, put it over the alternator last.
@BarboursAutoHelp6 жыл бұрын
Hey, good job on the crank sensor by the way! I couldn't post your other comments because of the language, but I read them. I'm glad you go some new toys in the process and didn't spend a bunch of money. Good job, man!
@alienrockstar37886 жыл бұрын
Thanks man. Sorry about the language, those crankshaft bolts can be a real pain. Make you want to cuss. The bolt had that red loctite threadlocker on it. It supposed to be heated to 500 degrees F to break it free. Just shows you how powerful that Earthquake impact I bought from HF really is. Thanks for your help too.

Can you bypass the ac pulley on a 2001 pontiac bonneville
@BarboursAutoHelp7 жыл бұрын
+ryan westall You May be able to but probably not the way you may be thinking. I know that Napa sells A/C bypass pulleys. Not sure if they have one for this engine. But, it’s basically a pulley that bolts up where your compressor is. You remove the compressor and replace it with the pulley. (By the way this is not a plug for Napa. Just sharing info. )

I’m having the hardest time putting my serpentine belt back on my engine is the supercharged one and my belt randomly came off but the supercharger belt is still on however when I try putting the main belt back on I have maybe less than a half inch left of pulley it needs to go on to and it’s really aggravating any ideas? Do I need a new belt? Should I take off the supercharger belt?
@BarboursAutoHelp7 жыл бұрын
I’d first try to find out why the belt fell off. Spin all the pulleys by hand, with the vehicle turned off of course. Check for play in the pulleys and for fluid contamination on the belt. Repair as needed. When you try to put the belt back on be sure the belt is seated in all the pulleys correctly. Just a few things to do... hope it helps. (By the way if your never a bad idea to have an experienced tech take a look at it. I’m very limited in the amount of help I can give on here)
