I'm no expert mechanic by any stretch. I try to save money by fixing things myself instead of paying others, as long as I can reasonably figure out how to do it right. This is easy - anyone can do it. It's also how I acquire more tools--the money saved by doing the job myself more than offsets the $8 breaker bar I had to buy at harbor freight to get enough leverage to push down the belt tensioner. No such thing as a starter pulley. You were referencing the alternator pulley. Good job and a nice video on how to!

I've done lots of repairs from fuses to engine teardowns.......in 70s and 80s vehicles with the engine in the "right way". Never did any work on these transverse mounts and definitely not on a minivan. I'm not an idiot around cars. However I was looking to have someone replace my belt for me and was going to pay $40 to have this belt replaced but thanks to your video, the old one was out, new on in and God awful squealing was gone in less than 20 min. Took longer to warm the new belt by the wood stove than it did any other step. Great video and thanks for saving me $40!

I wonder if there is a proper tool to keep the tensioner off. on the BMW's you remove the old tensioner, put a new one in, and it has a pin in there to keep the tension off, WHICH while I think about it, it's probably a good idea to replace the tensioner as well

that belt is fine, it's the tensioner that usually goes but for 25 bucks, good insurance

I got a cricket noise in mine. I thought it went away but after 100k I’m sure it’s time for a new belt. I’ll check the pulleys too when the belt is off. Hope I don’t need a tensioner. Parts direct shows $205

to make this job easier, cut the new belt, then route it, and afterwards duck tape 2 ends together

This video should be for 3.6 up to but not exceed 2015. The 2016 3.6 has a whole different belt tensioner
