My guess is the mystery washers on the openers are to space the bolt head away from the seal.
@rosstheoliverman

They’re made to set the spacing between the two openers. I was surprised that I didn’t need any on the inside. They spaced out correctly without them on all except one unit.

Always a positive to diagnose that sort of problem!!! An old mechanic once told me that a number of younger auto mechanics are just parts changers rather than diagnosing the problem.
@bigun447
@bigun447 Жыл бұрын
You are exactly correct. We saw the change in the mid-50s. When in college we would give the auto parts stores $0.50 for each regulator we got out of their core barrel. We put them on the school's teat bench, checked and adjusted them, and made a couple of bucks when we sold them to those in need.
@rosstheoliverman
@rosstheoliverman Жыл бұрын
You can rack up a heck of a bill in parts in a hurry if you don’t do some diagnosing first.
@bigun447
@bigun447 Жыл бұрын
@@rosstheoliverman I love it when the dealer's computers cannot diagnose why something it shutting down the equipment at erratic times so they start throwing new sensors, wiring harnesses, computers and etc., and still cannot fix the problem. Then the Mfg, has to track down an operating system problem, not an easy-to-do thing, and then make a download to all of their products. Like Elon Musk, who claims a new download to fix Tesla steering systems was not a recall.

I almost yelled at the screen😂😂 Welcome to the fuel system fun on the small German diesels. Just for future reference on most of the IH German diesels they use 2 of the same fuel filters.
