SERVICING A MITRE SAW

I have almost the same saw from about 25 years ago, they were a B+Q own band back then. The red bit about minute 7 is the insert plate. the screw you mentioned about min 56 is indeed a depth stop but you wont be able to do trenching cuts as its not a sliding saw. Now that its up and running the best thing you can do with it is to replace the blade - it will make a huge difference- and then recheck for square to the fence. check out saxton blades for spares.

It's a great saw and I'll probably still use it for a while, however it is my father's saw, so I will have to replace it at some point, if needed. Great info though. I'll definitely put a new blade on it first!

I was about where you are now 4 years ago. Good luck man! I ended up getting better cuts using a table saw and an aftermarket miter gauge. I was afraid to use the miter gauge that came with my table saw. Turns out stock miter gauges that come with even the best most ultra premium table saws are laughably bad :)

Thank you! I think I will get a table saw when I have the room for one. Hopefully someday soon I can buy a shed to use as a workshop. When I do, I'll try and get a good quality table saw. Terrifying haha!

I bought a second hand Evolution Rage3s for £40 it came with a stand as well. Only problem is the back fence is cracked so I'll need to fashion a new one some how.

That's a great price! Does it have the sliding mechanism? I'm sure they sell replacement parts. But if not, maybe bolt on a square tube of aluminium? Please let me know what you do to repair it and if it's a good machine 🙏🙂
