after beating the hell out of the pan realized it's glued (obviously) from the gasket.

Dude, did you use your underwear to wipe down the transmission? Thanks for the vid. Helpful to see how it is done.

Did the gasket maker on the wiring long stop the leak completely?
@tomwalma47627 жыл бұрын
Dude, just change the spin on filter. It will be enough. No need to touch the pan.

Hello, I have a 2001 Subaru Forester with a 2.5 L engine and a four speed automatic transmission. It has about 200k miles on it. I have recently been experiencing trouble going from park to any of the forward gears. Reverse works just fine. I suspect that it is the shift solenoid assembly inside the transmission. I would love to hear your thoughts. Thanks in advance. ✌️, Jeremy

from my experience with these: changing that internal screen is a waste of time, doing a pump out change using the cooler lines is a much better way of changing the fluid, and using full synthetic atf for better results

I had a toyota gearbox failed at shy 90K miles because that filter was blocked... even though I changed the fluid regularly.... That filter can be cleaned by the way, it's a stainless steel mesh, just use the carb cleaner.
@apachelives4 жыл бұрын
@@itftcomputers No. Your thinking about it the wrong way around. The blocked filter didn't kill the transmission, the broken transmission blocked the filter.

Question... when you go to remove /replace that solenoid, and you pull out the old one does more transmission fluid pour out? If so how much?

Where can I get a filter wrench like yours? Thanks for the video.

Dude... this was painful to watch how much sealant you used, WITH a gasket, and how much was seeping into the pan... that stuff breaks off and circulates into the transmission... if you have a gasket, you do not need sealant and vice versa... use gasket glue to hold the gasket on if it gives you trouble. Looks like you need a trans flush for safe measures.

Hello Nev's garage, I have a subaru forester 2011, here in Brazil, and seeing you do this fluid change, I was in doubt, do you need to remove the cover every time you change the fluid.
@monogramadikt59714 жыл бұрын
from what i understand you can do the fluid change over in phases if it really needs changing, the main reasons for remoning the pan seem to be mainly to check for metal shavings on the magnet in the pan or to swap solenoids that have died

Não. Ele trocou fluido e filtro. Aí sim tem que retirar a tampa.

What were the symptoms requiring a pickup screen change? What did inspection of the old pickup screen show? I have not really heard of this as a common service item... and it is a mesh screen so it could simply be blown out... This is covered here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jXzUhKWPoNh8m6c

Hello Nev's Garage, my subaru forester year 2011 does not have this filter on the outside of the transmission, what is the year and the model of your subaru?

rafael odenir Just changed the fluid on my 2011 today. I removed the drain plug and let the fluid come out. Around 3.5 quarts. Then put the plug in and added the 3.5 quarts from the top in the dipstick hole. Mine has 64,000 miles on it and its the second time ive changed the fluid. The dealer i bought the car from said my method is fine.

Great video. But do you have the OEM part number by any chance? Also I believe it can be cleaned with the carb cleaner as it's a stainless steel filter.

Just did this on my 06XT. Absolute PITA. Trying to snake a funnel past all of the pollution crap on my model made this task not fun. I have had fun, and this is not it.
