Have you done any cheap ESC tests? Not the "320 AMP EvilBay Special".... 😱 Like Hobbywing Quickrun, Brushless and Brushed, 60, 80, 120amp, Sensored and Sensorless.... GOOLRC, ESC and ESC/4-Pole combos, Panther ESC..... and the like... I wouldn't put them up against Castle or Tekin, but maybe Traxxas, and other mainstream middle range, popular ESCs. There's quite a few people I know on Forums, that keep asking about Budget ESCs.... How do they do, features, and if they're even worth it. Although not entirely scientific, your tests are balanced, fair, non-biased, and most importantly, SHOW even to the novice, the performance they should expect from the products you have tested!! 🍺🍺👏👏👏👏👏 You're like the *Consumer Reports* of our Hobby!

@johndonovan7018
@johndonovan7018 5 жыл бұрын
@@westernsharpie well traxxas is renowned for shitty ass servos, especially the micro ones they use for shifting and accessories. those arent just weak, they flat out burn out. technically you SHOULD NOT be able to turn the wheels on carpet in standstill. try turning your irl car wheels on a glue patch. thats how much traction carpet provides. not to mention RC tires are literally glue tires, 1000% unrealistic. so thats actually realistic that it cannot overpower terrible scale physics. to a reason
@lazergri
@lazergri 4 жыл бұрын
If you look at traction/power = traction/(voltage x amps), Traxxas servo isn't bad, it has approximately the same ratio, it's just less powerful. And yes I have a TRX4 equiped with it, it's powerful enough to steer on any surface, in fact it's powerful enough to break the f***ing plastic servo horn that's originaly installed. THIS plastic part is the real shame.

I think they are rated to 3A which is pretty good but if you fully stall a Savox I’m sure it would brown out however normal driving doesn’t stall a good servo so yeah I can see it working fine.

Excellent video as always. I have a few Powder HD 20Kg's and only 1 of the 23Kg versions. I didn't notice any difference torque wise but i only run 1.9's and don't get into binds often with them. In the defence of the 23kg one with the extra price, is it does feel a lot quicker and more responsive and the titanium gears are nice. I guess it's still working at around it's rated value, but it's interesting the 20kg performed better and is also rated for higher voltage.
@ExocagedRC
@ExocagedRC 6 жыл бұрын
Yeah they are both rated for 6.6v. I just stuck with 6v to try to have some form of control over them. I should have a high voltage test recorded next week. Probably be edited together and posted the following week.

Excellent test and video! Based on this (pretty much on its own) I chose the power hd 20 (instead of savox or cys) as my “budget” first upgrade for the useless and rapidly dying servo on my FTX mauler... I’m super impressed with it! The test was not necessarily “comprehensive” with only one of each servo, but definitely fair! Who is going to buy a whole box of each servo and run them regularly? We buy a few different servos maybe, like this test, and we learn from the company’s first effort.

I have a savox 1210sg and am running no bec. I do not have a lot of time on it but have not had a issue. You should make a video on how to set up a bec. I did not do that because I was clueless. I just threw my servo in there and used the truck.
@ExocagedRC
@ExocagedRC 6 жыл бұрын
good idea on the bec video, I have a bunch of them so maybe, the simple way is to just power them from the main battery and plug them into the receiver, you need to remove the red wire from the esc and you're good to go, if you have a high voltage servo and want to power that but have a 6v receiver you can power it around the receiver. I would think there are a ton of videos on how to do that already. I'll check and see.

Power HD is the best bang for your buck out of all those servos which is why you were surprised. I have two Power HD DW-25LV in my E Revo 2 and while they were just 10 bucks cheaper than the Savox 1256TG's I was going to purchase they have way more torque and faster response time than the Savox servos.

Ok. I’m assuming you got the Mamba X with 2850kv combo correct? If so just use the stock pinion and 2S-3S and with that esc you can run any servo you want without issue. When you get the esc there should be a card in the book you can use to get a free castle link you’ll need to adjust the esc with your computer. The strongest 6v servo I’ve seen so far is the REEFS Triple 5. I have a video on that as well as the 3BRC G13 you can look at.

I recently bought a agf rc servo for my speed run slash 2wd.one I bought is only rated at 14.5kg-cm(202oz-in)@8.4v with a speed of 0.062sec/60⁰@8.4v.the agf is brushless with a solid aluminum housing with strength steel and titanium gears with double ball bearings.being that im using the castle mamba monster 8s esc im running servo at 8v and it responds super fast and im almost certain it has more power then what its rated cause when I change out gearing to bash it around it snaps the front tires around like they're not even there.running the dboons tires from the arrma infraction so bigger wheel tire combo compared to stock 2.2 slash wheels.love this servo so much I actually bought 3 more for my no prep drag build and to have 2 spares in toolbox just in case.lol.will also be buying some bigger ones when I start a crawler build especially since the crawler servos agf makes can be plugged directly into a 2s lipo so you can run them at 8.4 volts without a bec not to mention ones i looked at are 55kg-cm.little pricey but imo well worth it.the 4 I bought for slash speed build and drag build is the AGF-RC A62BLS and was $83 each and the 55kg ones i plan on using for crawler build are around $115 each.

Although they were labelled the same, they were physically different servos, some are stronger than others of the same specs. A prime example is the Turnigy 959, the V1 is way way better than the v2 as they went cheap after release and getting a good name, we could be seeing the same thing with these servos.

HI, I just purchased a power HD for a slash and was watching your video. I see the traxxas only pulled 2.5 amps and the HD 6 give or take. The factory esc spec is only 2.5amps so wondering if there is any gain if the servo can only be supplied 2.5 amps anyway. The test was to fast to see where the servo was pulling at 2.5 amps. I am new to rc's so could I be missing something. A test at 2.5amps if that's all that could be supplied?
@ExocagedRC
@ExocagedRC 6 жыл бұрын
What happens when the servo pulls too many amps from the esc, it causes a brown out, a brown out is when the receiver voltage ( same as servo gets ) drops below the minimum voltage required to function, everything turns off and the system restarts. In your case you may never stall the servo so you may not have an issue at all. In a scaler it could be a problem.
@lmt200ish
@lmt200ish 6 жыл бұрын
Thanks, it probably wasn't worth changing then, except for the metal gears in my case. Amps being equal, they probably pull about the same just more potential with different bec.

Andy Hamilton pretty much each of these servos would brown out the sw4 at full stall like this. The glitch buster is only good for a couple seconds, the sustained loads would still give you a brown out.

Just starting to get back into the sport again. Do you think from the 5v to rated 6v of the servo im losing much in torque?

Well that's what prompted this I have been starting to watch a number of your vids. Really want to get the new trx-4 79 bronco next. I like how yours are setup up for double duty. Going fairly fast and crawling. I really like the new Redcat gen7 also but I love the ability to have high/low and selectable diff locks from remote. For a Jeep guy like me that's absolutely awesome. Also was looking at a Summit but kind of like the solid axles of the trx-4. I would say the Summit is better at going fast and then can crawl also where the trx-4 is meant to crawl more but can go faster as well if you understand what i mean. You know the Losi is no speed demon no matter what you do so some speed would be welcome. Then i started watching your servo test videos and noticed the voltage and that Turnigy already stood out. About half the price of this Spektrum i bought. Keep up the awesome vids and thanks for the replys.
