Really useful information, I have been using the EMAX ES08MD and Tower Pro MG90D's and found them both to be pretty good so far.

I’ll be doing another test soon, which will be a bit more scientific. Both those servos will be in the new test. I’ve used the ES08MA II servos quite a lot, and they’ve been really reliable. The video will pop up here and in the Fixed Wing RC Rebels Facebook group.

I'm glad I watched this before ordering. If you look at the specs between the two emax servos the only difference in size on paper is the thickness. But seeing them side by side the digital is not only thinner, but also quite longer. Now I understand why everyone who upgrades their axial scx24 uses the analog and not the digital.

The digital EMAX servo in this video is for slightly different purposes than the ES08MA II. However, there is also an ES08MD II which has an identical case.

Thanks for testing. Do you think the Emax ES08MD digital is worth the extra money over the analog ES08MA servo on a 44" 3D profile foam airplane ?

If your receiver can output at the higher speed, it may be worth it. Especially if it has a stabiliser.

Would be funny to see them with some load. I've had a few of the towerpro mg90 lock up under load when reaching their endpoints, both on a smaller wing and when used on the tail of a Volantex Ranger EX. Only running emax servos these days, have not had any accidents with them.

I’m planning another test soon with some other servos as well as these, minus the Corona. That will have a test to see how much it can pul. However, it will probably be different to being in use all the time. I tend to use the EMAX ES08MA II servos. I have the digital version of that servo coming for the test, and the digital version of the MG90S, which is supposed to be vastly better than the analogue.

Hello, I am looking for a servo that can be used as an accurate pointer. I've tried digital servos, but they make a whining sound that is a non-starter for me. Will the MG90S work for my situation? I'm happy to answer any questions. Thank you!
@MrD
@MrD Жыл бұрын
I would not use the MG90S for anything. They are really terrible servos, and far from accurate. You would probably want to use a high end, digital servo for the accuracy. But these are a lot more pricey.
@visarr

@@MrD Thanks for your reply. As I mentioned, the digital servos make a whining sound; therefore, those are non-starters for me. Are there any accurate analog servos?

Another thingvto compare us resolution smoothness. A lot of cheap servos are geared higher to achieve higher speeds but the trade of with that is lower resolution and a gritty movement as well as poor centering
@MrD
@MrD 3 жыл бұрын
I am coming up with a new testing procedure. Smoothness would be hard to quantify I think. But resolution would be simpler. Here’s what I have so far. I’d welcome feedback. www.mrd-rc.com/tutorials-tools-and-testing/methodologies/servo-testing-methodology/

So... Weird.. allready the 5th servo stopped working in flight :-(.Its the Emax ES09MD. Using it on a hacker Edge 540 v3 profile foamy.They just work great but after a while they fail.Maybe its has to do with the bec from the Hobbywong Flyfun V5 esc.Its on default output of 5,2 volts.Dunno... but it annoying, when it happens again.. and again inflight.Help will be much appreciated.
@MrD
@MrD 3 жыл бұрын
Those servos shouldn’t be failing on a profile foamy. What current is the BEC? If you’re moving the servos all the time in 3D flight, it could be that the servos aren’t getting enough power. I would have though a 5A BEC should be fine, but 3A may be pushing it. Also, where are you getting the servos. There are clones of EMAX servos out there. I wouldn’t trust places like eBay or Amazon.

@@MrD Its 5,2 volts at 3A.Should i set the bec then on 6 volts?Manual says it will output 7A on 6 volts.I was getting them on AliExpress at FeiYingRC store.Hopefull they're genuine.How can check when they are fake Thnx
@MrD
@MrD 3 жыл бұрын
@@rverdonk3 you can try 6V. The servos can take it, and will be quicker and have more torque. On the box, there should be a scratch panel. You can check the number on the EMAX site. If there’s no scratch panel, it’s fake.

@MrD
@MrD 4 жыл бұрын
If you’re happy with the performance of the ES08MA II, I’d just go to the ES08MD II. The ES3352 are a bit more powerful, but are a different shape (taller and thinner). The ES08MD II would be a straight swap.

I'm new in the rc car world, The voltage refears to the voltage of the battery? If I put a battery of 7V will it work? Thanks
@MrD
@MrD 4 жыл бұрын
The voltage refers to the voltage the servo will operate at. I’ve not used RC cars for a while. But when I did, the speed controller reduced the voltage for the servos and receiver to 5v. The battery connected directly to the speed controller. This was of course for electric cars. For nitro cars, I’d imagine there is some kind of BEC to reduce the power for the servo and receiver. To be honest though, this was back when you used NiCd batteries 🤣 With batteries, the voltage given is the nominal voltage. For example a 2S LiPo will have a nominal voltage of 7.4 volts. When fully charged it will be 8.4 volts, so the servo needs to be able to handle that upper voltage.

Hello Daren what do you think of es08mdii to be fitted in the ranger 2400? Being a medium plane but slow I would be aware in case they are underpowered

Try the Miuzei servos instead of the Tower Pro. They are under $2USD /ea and far better than the Tower Pro. Also, the Coronas can feed back into the receiver and cause all the servos to jitter. Someone found that adding a toroidal core solved that kzbin.info/www/bejne/qXbTZYmKa7N_bNE

I'll have a look at the Miuzei servos. To be honest, for the money I can't see anything beating the MG90D. Check out my better servo test video and you'll see what I mean. kzbin.info/www/bejne/rWS5iIqjf7h-pZY I also found that all the jitter and range issues in this video was because I was using a servo tester. Hooking them up to an actual receiver made a huge difference.

Not always. It depends what they are going in. I wouldn’t put cheap servos in something like a Mini Drak or Goblin just to save a few pennies and risk failure. For stuff like S800’s and AR Wings the EMAX ES08MA/D II servos are great. I wouldn’t use the TowerPro analogue servos in anything now.
