Had to design a centrifugal pump with a DC motor so I didn't know about Servo motors til now. Nice to know you can use it for receiving position data. I left a like for the algo!

how do you get positional info back from a servo? just by moving a sensor with it until the sensor is made (say by a prox or something)?

Depends on the servos, some provide no information just allow you to rotate them by x unit, so having a starting point and moving from that one, while keeping track is how I do it. The more expensive ones have potentiometers inside which is like a electrical dimmer amd they can get position from how much power is going through the potentiometer,

So for a centrifuge you'd use a DC motor? Already know the answer but gotta have some comment for the algo, in case that's how it works lol

yeah Dc motors are most used cause they can just put out raw power and speed like FPV drones, vs needing precision like a robotic arm
