I was at first just mesmerized by his eloquence. My sister bought me his book "Purification of the Heart", which accompanies me every day and I am learning from it every single day. I lived in bay area for 21 years and attended Sheikh Hamza's first lecture in 1994. I have the honor of meeting him in person several times. I still regularly watch his lectures & sermons on U-Tube and never get tired of it. I always learn something new from him about Islam, Prophet Muhammad, Quran, Jesus, Christianity, Bible, and other religion. I have never met anyone in my entire life with such a thorough, in depth knowledge of Abrahamic religions. His knowledge of Arabic language is also most impressive. I have learned so much from his lectures & sermons over the decades, I could go on forever writing about it. The thing I most appreciate about his teachings is that he keeps bringing people back to All Mighty and his knowledge, his power, mercy, kindness, generosity, and forgiveness. So no matter how bad the things get, All Mighty is still in charge and will have the last say in all matters. This gives people hope in their most darkest hour. Sheikh Hamza is a blessing for all of us from All Mighty. May Allah swt keep him & his family in his protection, grant him health and long life. Amen

When I listen to Syeikh Hamzah Yusuf, I feel like I'am nothing more worthy than a dirty piece of gravel on a roadside. His knowledge is so rich, his 'ilm is so high, and his personality is so beautiful. If he was born during the time of Prophet Muhammad in Mecca or Medina, he had been among the closest and primary sahaba of the Prophet.

One of the few Seikhs that any intelligent human beings may listen to, and find his lectures to be beneficial- regardless of sects and/or even beliefs. He shows no favor of whom he quotes so long he finds it in line with the truth at the particular subject. I now understand better why so many different backgrounds translated Imam Gazhali works. May he touch with Allah's mercy- a much more extended benifeciers.

You have to build your Islam in you for years so that you are prepared for any calamity, like immunity, nothing is guaranteed, someone I know just lost her 20-yr old son and there is nothing like sitting across from a mother who has lost her child, it's as close to Allah as you can get bc that is a true test. She kept talking to her son, ya ibni, you have parted ways with me, but she also refused to break her fast to drink water. She's young and will face a life without her first born and all I could do was let her cry and it was beautiful to hear the way she was not angry, just talking to her son that he has now left her. She said he was a v. good son who brought things for her without her even asking, he wanted to grow up and be successful so he can take care of his siblings, he was attached to them. I couldn't understand it. But I could tell the Islam and Allah's will was part of her. May Allah give her strength to bear this loss, ameen.

I think its a نعمۃ...Allah gives his نعمۃ to whoever he wants .....we can try our best to acquire knowledge and with that دعاء is the most imp aspect. Our Prophet has asked Allah علم نافع so we should also.....before every lecture shaykh make a dua which is so effective that اللھم انفعنا بما علمتنا و علمنا ما ینفعنا و زدنا علما۔ O Allah benefit us from the knowledge we know and bestowed us with the knowledge which is beneficial.

Love the Shaikh and lovely lessons from him. However he mentioned that surah al Israa’ is in the centre (physically) of the Quran. Actually isn’t the centre between the 15 and 16th juz and therefore is it not surah al Kahf that is isn’t he centre...?

Listening to the lectures onthe Quran makes me thirsty to understand more, but I cry becuase alot of the arabic terms you use inyour tlaks I do not know and I am left befreft of some understanding, so when you speakin English I d o undertsand but when you describe some things in Arabic terms I am lost..
