Throughout this symposium, I have been struck by how completely more scientifically astute and genuine the comments/questions are from the professors/directors/professionals in the audience than the commentary generally produced by the panelists, who appear more political in their purpose. As one audience member pointed out, the panelists generally appear to be guiding the conversation away from the nominal subject of the symposium: developing a systemic set of principles regulating GOF experimentation. Contrary to some of these panelists, the development of such principles has relevance outside of US borders.
