Only when I really need one. That is when the waves are really big and/or when it is very crowded in the waves.

Does a board size actually have an effect during those high wind rides? e.g. some 100 liter board is long and wide, and having it above the water - can wind actually have some negative effect on it?

I think it's less the windage and more the swing weight that makes the difference. In the video it is actually not that windy. It's at the lower end of the 5'4 (51l). In waves I find that length is not so important. Wheras width, especially in the tail, makes a huge difference on how your can turn.
