Contrary to common perception, Bernie is actually incredibly good at working with other senators to write legislation. When he was chair of the veterans' affairs committee in 2014, he worked with John McCain to pass a huge VA reform bill. Really looking forward to what Bernie does in this new role.

I'm not a fan of most Democrats and not one Republican. Too many are out for themselves, their corporate masters, or both. That said, there's one politician who towers above the rest and it's Senator Sanders. For me, there aren't enough superlatives to describe him and his tireless work for the common person. I've followed his career since the 1980s. I really started paying attention in the late 1990s. If people had done their homework on his career, understood he is FDR's political son whose north star is MLK, and withstood the forces against him during his two runs for president, the nation and world would likely be in a much better place. How the Democrats and Democratic media (CNN and MSNBC in particular) treated him during both campaigns was a travesty. Sen. Sanders is the greatest president we never had.

I cannot imagine if I weren’t so lucky to earn what I do to support my family of 6. I have stopped going to my follow up checkups because I was headed right back into the money pit. My kids need to eat!

Here’s a problem I know affecting lots of people (candidly speaking, that includes myself): the ability to get to the doctor’s appointments. I mean physically, as in transportation to and from. Not everyone has family members who can pitch in. If you’re elderly and no longer driving or you’re too sick to drive yourself, then that’s a problem. And if you have a means through rides from insurance, usually they want plans made 2 or 3 business days in advance so if the doctor wants to see you that day, you can’t comply and risk losing credibility, or even worse, getting sicker. Thank,you, Sen. Sanders, or as we many affectionally call you, Bernie. You are the right one to tackle all this. We know you care. ❤

We are a society in despair with little hope for a better future and a feeling of hoplessness when we see how other first world countries treat their people compared to us. People have no teeth, rotting teeth, taped up glasses, and chronic health issues that receive no healthcare. Until we start getting the wealthy to pay their share, there is really no room for negotiation. The working class have nothing left to give. Regarding pensions, can this group look at ELIMINATING THE TEACHER PENALTY with social security. I worked before, during and after my teaching stint of several decades. For the seven years I taught in Washington State, I paid into social security as well as into my state retirement plan. My s/s benefit is reduced by about 1/3 simply because I was a teacher. This rule may have made sense in the l930's when it was written--when most teachers were women. It is unfair, especially to women. But it is just unfair, period.

Write Congress and request that they do away with that old law and give you what you have worked hard for All of your life. It's sad how teachers are treated. When I was in elementary school my teachers were all I had to depend on.

It is based on the fact that low earners get higher intial SS payments because you may be poor when you retire. This is not needed if you are in another retirement system.
