What makes session controls easier to understand is that each stick is one of your skater’s feet. Just do the movement you would do in real life with the stick.

I feel like if you actually skate irl and have been for a while your gonna love session because it immulates actual skateboarding and as a skater myself i want to play a game that actually feels like skating. I do have a place in my heart for skate 3 though and always will i even played that on hardcore and realistic. At the end of the day im not after an arcade style experience. I want the closest thing to real skateboarding.

they both feel like there is something missing though - there is some physics missing, its hard to describe but the board weight and general physics just have that uncanny valley feel to them. I enjoy the controls and dynamics these new gen skate games, but there needs to be more consequential physics for it to be complete. Hope they develop them more

I haven't played Skater XL buy I've seen it. After playing Session however, I feel like I don't need to. Session is great, really rewarding just by landing tricks and grinds feeling good.

Really cool that in Session you can cancel your Ollie if you setup it. In SXL if you setup your Ollie you anyway did it if release your stick. Also Session has the damn best replay editor!

these two games have not lured me away from Skate 2 and 3. I have to play them backwards compatible on Xbox Series X and there are no PC ports, so no mods,.. but they both have way more content, are way more polished, and more enjoyable to control than SkaterXL and Session. (in my opinion)

While I love both, I prefer Skater XL, for a few reasons. 1: The Soundtrack is better in my opinion (it doesn’t really matter but it’s one of the only games I don’t mute music.) 2: It’s a bit simpler, so it’s easy to pick up and put down. 3: The DIY map editor, it’s awesome to put together mini diy parks in maps! In the end, though, it’s all up to opinion.

Idk if this was added after you made this video but you can tweak all tricks in session too, you gotta turn on flick/scoop sync and after that you can completely tweak your tricks just like in skater xl

Easy Day Studios needs to add the same gravity features in session and the ability to break boards and wear and tear after hours of using the same setup would be sick!!

Session is levels ahead, its just between personal preference. So if you've played skater XL you might like it more, same with session. session is also newer meaning (in my opinion), it has a better future.

Its been so long i always remembered Skate 3 for some reason. I like to skate on video games that same way i would in real life im not doing tre flips to over crooks doen 15 stairs so i wont do it on the game either. Turns out skate 3 isnt on PS4 which is confusing so im looking for a new skate game and absolutely refuse and tony hawk bs. But anyways thanks for this video session looks cool i also want to check out skate 4 assuming they are both on PS4

Session is probably more fun for realistic skating and filming clips, which is closer to irl skating but skater XL isn’t as realistic without mods on pc

Session is better than skater xl I went from skater xl to session and haven’t looked back. Skater XL always crashes on me. The level of customization on session is crazy you can adjust so many different things. The maps on session are better as well featuring many different real locations. The only thing session needs is an online and it would be the best skate game of all time

i played both games and all i can say: skater xl works better for pc (u can get ur own style with every single trick + how u put both feet on the deck, setting how they are in air, stats, impossibles, no complys, landing animation steez, etc) session works better for console (u have a lot of more tricks, feels more like a "street" skate game, better replay editor, etc) ngl both are very good, but imo skater xl looks and feels way better

For someone who Transistion Skated and Bowl skated my whole life session is literally a dream and a nightmare all at once. They get the body physics so right but they lack the ability to make the physics work for the most fun part of skate games imo. I find myself doing very small or segmented lines in session where in skater XL I can do some transitional lines like I’m putting together a real line. It’s a tough choice Cant wait for skate 4 😭

Skater xl was abandoned by the devs, we only have session now, skate 4 is not an option for me cause the controls are gonna be like skate 3, and im not going back to those controls its so bad. skate 4 is gonna be a arcade skate game. I like simulators

Session is superior. The animations in both games are kinda trash tbh. However i just prefer the gameplay and difficulty of session Skater xl is just lazy. Easy, just feels lame. Legit find rider republic skating better than xl. Riders has clean animations. However, to this day no game has gotten feel of just cruisin on your board down.. They need that bad

Session flips all same speed. U change the speed in settings and all your flips are the same speed.. but in skaterXL u flip ur thumb slow or fast to get either or. On the go. Session is dookie

Screw Session. I gotta get Skater XL now, because Session sucks. That one tried replicate the Skate games, but made the controls complicated to the point that completing the tutorials are impossible. The first one can be skipped, and you get access to Gameplay setting such as changing gravity(lowering it gives way more air), but the next one cant be skipped. And the ragdolling from bumping into ANYTHING, and skating tiny af gaps, is annoying. Good thing I bought Session cheap. I cant imagine how frustrating that game is to those that spent full price.

I would say skater XL if you liked skate 3 a lot but if you want to Film Realistic clips and have realistic setting then session is better
