I have been a part of the last few playtests. It's pretty disappointing and definitely going to be a predatory microtransaction hell hole. At this point, I am about 80% confident this game is a no starter for me when it comes out. Fucking EA.

I do have a feeling they’ll at least have a “solo” or private session mode, where you can just chill by yourself or with friends if you dont wanna be around a bunch of random players and do the missions or challenges around the map, if you want more of that ‘single player’ experience

If you haven't played session it's fire I copped it when it was on sale. DONT BUY IT IF THERE IS NO SALE. If you really skate you'll love it. It's nothing like skate 3.. unreal engine graphics I love everything about session BUT the maps are medium sized not much to do there is hellllllaaaaaaa maps to play it's mad dope like I said before if you really skate you'll love it. The maps just boring and the controls will have you looking stupid on skate 3 it confuses me and I played skate 3 since It came out 😂 if they made session open world, dawg it would be the most realistic dope ass skating game ever made . It's single player only tho

The thing that Skate 1 and Skate 2 over Skate 3 fans always neglect to mention that made Skate 3 the superior game is create-a-park and hardcore mode. Once we figured out the merge glitch CAP became the place for hardcore players and creatives who wanted to more realistically emulate skateboarding. I probably made close to 100 parks in Skate 3. Anyway, I say all of this because if you’re going to be like…meeehh, skate 2 was so much better, you need perspective 😂 CAP and hardcore mode was peak Skate.

At this point, i'm setting myself up for the worst when it comes to EA and microtransactions. They say cosmetic only which is good news, but I can guarantee that they will add Fortnite style skins, which should not and does not need to be in a Skate game let alone fit or suit the genre, just another petty cash grab. There has been an overwhelming demand for an offline mode, honestly they must add it, for the sake of the future of the game, if they want this to be the only Skate going forward, we need game preservation, we NEED to be able to play offline, bottom line.

Oh, there are all kinds of goofy fortnite esque options. Crackhead bunny costumes and Grim reaper costumes galore. All the real life gear will be locked behind purchasable in game currency, with very sparse options. So, it's free to play. But, pay to look like a normal skater and support a couple of your favorite brands. Which, I already do with the real skate gear I use. I don't want to buy a bunch of shit for a game that is live service. What happens when they shut the servers down? I get nothing for my money. Fuck that.

Game is fun AH. Even more fun with everyone always online. Players throw down some ramps and flat bars and the whole crowd starts jamming. Very, very dope IMO. Still a ways to go and needs tweaking but I look forward to grinding all the challenges.

I got to use to Skater XL to much I went back to skate 3 and it felt so weird and it felt limited, no trick variation, every trick looks the same every time, I hope skate incorporates the duel stick control or at least have the option. Also I hope there is security again, make it feel more real when it comes to street skating. Looking forward to playing this though

I recently tried to go back to Snow after taking a long break and was super irritated to find that the game is completely disabled when the developers servers went offline. It's essentially guaranteed since this is a free to play online only game that this game will become unplayable one day when the servers go offline. Let's hope modders step in once that happens.

Great video. I recently made a video on this, but I don't think they'll be waiting until the end of the year to release the early access.. People seem to forget that it will ABSOLUTELY be a bad idea to launch a game too close to GTA 6. There is definitely hype for skate 4 but it cannot come close to competing with GTA for a release space. If EA want as many people playing from day one, they will have to release it sooner. I'm hoping they use the 15 year anniversary of skate 3 in may to do that.

I've always play skate just like I skate... TO HAVE FUN! Not looking for crazy graphcis or insane mechanics, but my biggest fears is that on the online mode, people will be doing way too crazy tricks, and I've always playes skate games, to do simpler tricks, and on a multiplayer mode which "whoever makes more points" wins.... People will be truning into beyblades lol Can't wait to play the game I think it will be fun, poeple are worried about the game itself and complaining about the devs... but I feel like the ones who might destroy the game will be the players that expected too much and will be just out there trowing themselves from buildings

I wish the cinematography style was more similar to Skate 1 and 2's aesthetic. It still looks flat and bland compared to those games aesthetic style. It looks so far like a Skate 3 remake as a MMO. I definitely want Skate 4 to release. It also seems like many long time Skate fans will end up enjoying it, but I wish Skate 4, with all the time it's been since Skate 3, didn't seem so much like Skate 3.

@JustMarySk8 I think many people never actually explored Skate 1. I think the same can be said to Skate 2 as well. Many people really jumped into Skate 3 and loved the series just from that game alone. Normally, you'd think that is no issue. Because Skate 3 was the latest game, so people would assume it's the best one. So why look into the previous ones? But the previous ones weren't just simple lesser versions of Skate 3, Skate 1 and 2 were different than Skate 3 and unique in their own right. I guess it's also more like preferences too. Because you can have things from the older ones, that are more liked than Skate 3. But I do think Skate 1 is the most overlooked. Even when Skate 2 is overlooked over Skate 3. I'd still have to say that Tony Hawk Underground 1 is my #1 Skate game overall. If there was a spiritual successor to this game, story and all, even better if it had co-op and multiplayer, it would be the dream skate game.

skate 1 and 2 aesthetic wouldn't make sense in this game. the city and characters are built around skating so it's gonna look all colorful and accepting rather than monotone and rejecting skaters

I think it's mostly due to the camera settings your player character uses, and not entirely the environment of the game. I'm sure there will be post-processing settings we can add to change the look of our games camera. I played the Skate 2 on SkaterXL on PC, and the map looks completely different because SkaterXL uses different post-processing camera settings so it doesn't have the nostalgic Skate 2 feel. I have camera mods that allow me to adjust the lens of my camera so I can play the game and have it look exactly like Skate 2.

I want a truly refined experience, xl and session... amazing games, but after years of playing those games...they feel like perpetual early access. The old skate games feel way more finished of an experience than session and xl. As long as ea doesn't screw this up .. I think it's gonna be very fun.

They are likely looking to get an even bigger casual audience. Like, fans of Skate or even just general fans of skateboarding will try it out and play it. But the casual audience (and people who buy microtransactions) is the largest driver of live service cash flow. That is all to say that, sure, they’ll sell lots of core skate brand cosmetics. But get ready for some wildly goofy stuff.

You dont, there's two coins, one earned playing the spots and etc. Other one is premium but they already stated that it'll be earned playing as well. Shop for normal itens have a 24hrs rotation with ramps and gear to buy with normal coins, premium packs and other stuff rotates every tuesday
