In my opinion, there is no such thing as a filler episode. Every episode develops the characters. The situations they are put into and how they react to them shows us how they are changing through each episode. What happens in each episode affects how a character will respond in a more "important" episode with a bigger decision to make.

I'm glad you mentioned about people leaving minor comments about future developments thinking they were being vague or subtle (which is considerate) but not realising it's still just not acceptable. It was starting to frustrate me on your behalf! I'm very glad you said something and don't worry about seeming ungrateful or anything it was a point worth making. I'm a MAJOR spoilerphobe myself and I really hate when people tell me the smallest of details, even things they think are inconsequential or minor. They don't understand that I just dont want to know ANYTHING and I don't even want the vaguest of hints. I have tried for years to get certain people to understand this and still they tell me things saying "Oh it's not REALLY a spoiler". Well to me it is! Sorry for the rant haha. I always like the level headed ones in the craziness of the episodes, mainly because they look more out of place than a guy waving a sonic at monsters. LOL

In my opinion this story isn't bad, especially for being among this series' least memorable next to the Dalek episode. Rory's introduction is probably the best aspect of it, and its nice to have him as a buffer to Amy so that..."moment" between her and the Doctor last episode doesn't happen again. As for the rough patch you're going through, it's really heartwarming to know that our comments and thoughts help you get by. Feel free to take a break any time, we'll always be here for support!

Rory is the cutest, his speech with the Doctor on that episode was really really good, honestly. I do think Moffat's way of writing is like this, even tho there are "mehh" episodes, there still are great moments that question the Doctor (because that speech really DID), his intentions and the way he impacts people's lives. Overrall it's more of an "even" journey, no need to have a big episode for the Doctor to be faced with what he's done in Amy's life until now, or the fact that their relationship is the way it is, and that she's already willing to risk her life for him, just out of blind trust. I like this "pacing", personally...

Agreed with you that this episode kinda gets lost in the overall mix of things. It has some fun moments (the Doctor confronting the vampire girls for the first time is hilarious), and it does give us more screen time with Rory (whom I adore), but overall it's pretty meh.

Another great video; although I'm not a regular commenter, I am an avid viewer of three of your reaction series (TWD and Sherlock are the others). If you had to stop any or all of them, it would be a shame and you'd be missed by many, but it's important to do what's right for you and your well-being above and beyond the whims of KZbin viewers. True fans will stand by your choice whatever you decide :-) The things that makes this episode stand out for me are (1) the stunning location filming - in Croatia, rather than Venice, but you wouldn't know the difference - but the Venetians had a heavy presence there too; (2) the complex relationship the main villain (Signora Calvieri) develops with the Doctor over quite a short running time, and the opportunities for interesting dialogue and humanisation that come from that. Writer Toby Whithouse pulled off a similar feat with Mr Finch (the headmaster who ate his students, aka creepy Giles) back in series 2's ''School Reunion'.

I had a brief discussion in the comments to your last video on spoilers that got me thinking about it more. In the case of spoilers the problem with Doctor Who in the Moffat Era (Season 5 to present) is he likes to weave elements of a larger narrative through each episode. So all the hints dropped in each episode eventually tell a whole story and when someone looks back on a season they see that overarching story. That makes the most notable parts of each episode the parts that you might not notice. The hints that built the overall story. I guess what I'm saying is I do think participation in your comments will go down but if that does happen I don't think you should worry about it. Someone like me, I will probably not participate in your comment section anymore. But It isn't because I'm mad and I'll still watch your reactions. It's just the story that I'm remembering is not really the story you're watching. I don't know that I COULD prevent myself from drawing attention to the pieces of that overall narrative because that's the most interesting part in retrospect.

I have found in my own life that when I think something other people disagree on is simple I'm probably missing something. In this case the conversation I refer to above is whether an event that was actually in the episode is a spoiler. On one hand anyone who was paying close enough attention would notice the detail. So some people would say that isn't a spoiler. On the other hand if she didn't notice the detail then it is giving her new information. So some people would consider that a spoiler. That leads you to the whole question of what is better. To have picked up on the hint and to spend the rest of the episodes putting together the mystery. Or to have completely missed the hint and to spend the rest of the episode oblivious to the other clues. Then you get into the question of experiencing an episode when it happened or watching an episode later. If you watch an episode later you can't look on the internet after or you will get spoiled. But if she was watching these episodes in real time she could go on the internet and people would point out the detail. So pointing out that detail is not really a spoiler in that it doesn't reveal any information that wasn't available to the people watching the episode in real time. But some people don't go on the internet and discuss episodes even when they watch them in real time So no, it is not that simple.

Probably the least memorable one in the entire run of this Doctor.

I rewatched it this morning and I still had a difficult time following! It's just kind of a weird episode where a lot of the action is generic and repetitious. One thing that really sticks out in my mind is how the Doctor and Calvieri have their confrontation in the throne room and, a few minutes later, they're back in the throne room having another tete-a-tete. There are just a lot of bits that seem superfluous.

1) It sucks that people were still posting spoilery comments at this point, even after the disaster of the Mickey/Martha reveal in End of Time. That was a huge reaction moment that I'm sure everyone was anticipating, and it was completely ruined. 2) This was actually the first episode of Doctor Who I ever watched. It was a year before I actually became a fan of the show, it just happened to be on TV when I was flipping channels so I watched it. The most memorable line for me was when they were fleeing down the stairs and Amy goes "They're not vampires, they're *aliens*!" and the Doctor goes "That's good news" and Rory is just like "What is wrong with you people?". Kinda sad you cut that part out of your reaction.

Hey, another midnight treat - yeah, a fairly unremarkable episode but it a decent job of getting Rory onboard the Tardis. Some of the theme's here are stuff we've seen before - Alien's invading Earth because they're running away from something else; sacrifice by the supporting cast and a resolution that's involved climbing a tower to do something dangerous at the last minute. Still Rory's a lot of fun in this - cute but useless - reminds me sometimes of Wesley W-P.

For me the pluses here were Rory and the reactions. I've been a fan of Helen McCrory for over 20 years but she was struggling with this part. I also especially didn't like the bit where The Doctor told her he was going to stop her plans cos she didn't remember Isabella's name -Matt did his considerable best with it and it almost sounded ok for a moment but it just plain isn't ok to feed people to your children either way. And less importantly I'm afraid I was just plain irritated by the idea that Guido hasn't got a change of clothing and so has to nick Rory's T-shirt - it's a piece of "claptrap" that didn't work for me.

This story is just so bland to me. There's not much for me to really dislike, but not much for me to like either. Costumes were great, as well as some of the set design, so there's that. The whole Rory/Doctor competition thing here has always rubbed me the wrong way every other time I've watched it, but I saw it again this morning and I was kind of okay with it. The minisodes were DVD extras and weren't aired at the time the episodes were. They're cute and for these kind of things really top of the game compared to other shows. (I mean, I don't know about you, but I didn't care for either the TWD/FTWD or the Battlestar Galactica attempts at them.)

Last episode really put a bad taste in my mouth in regards to Amy and how she treated rory by kissing the doctor and in no uncertain terms say she wanted to cheat on her day away husband with this man, However it also made me really love Rory since he forgives amy for this whole thing and then is like yeah lets travel time in space. People give Amy alot of love as a companion i give ROry way more as both the doctors companion and amy's as well

Rory's lecture to the Doctor was a bit forced as he has only met him twice. It came off more the script writer being a long time fan of the show than the character deducing it for himself. If a filler episode isn't that great it at least has to be exciting and entertaining to some degree. I'm not sure this managed to pull either off. I thought Rose could be catty :) but Amy is so horrible and one dimensional she screams 'written by a man' Sorry. I've been more down on this episode than I intended:) :) Anyway, onwards and upwards there are a couple of real classic beauties yet to come in this series.
