Let’s talk Retro, this little coffee machine is a great value part of our range. Very simple to use… really great coffee, with an ESE coffee pod handle, also has a handle for ground coffee and it’s fantastic for steaming your milk.
HOW TO STEAM MILK: • How to: Steam milk
Ok, let’s set up a Retro. After you’ve plugged it in, you fill the water tank.
Then, turn on the coffee machine at the switch on the back left hand corner. Press and hold it, and click until the red light comes on.
Once this red light comes on, it menas the coffee machine has reached the optimal temperature for making espresso, and the hand on the dial has reached the cup in the middle.
Grab your favourite Lucaffe ESE coffee pod, open it, take your pod out, now just fold the little tab underneath and rest the pod gently into the handle so it sits neatly like that, place the handle back up into the machine again and lock it firmly in. Once you’ve got the handle locked in place your espresso cup underneath the spout and flick this switch to extract your espresso.
Once you’ve extracted your espresso, turn the switch off, simple as that.
For those of you who like milk with your coffee, we’re going to turn on the steam wand. Firstly flick this switch down, now… the temperature light will go out, once this red light comes back on it means we’ve reached the optimal temperature to make steam. The little black indicator on the dial would’ve reached the steam indicator.
The reason we don’t turn the steam on before we make coffee, is that the machine becomes too hot and it will burn your espresso.
To turn on your steam simply turn the dial on the left hand side all the way and the steam activates.
