Clearly the correct answer is Irukandji box jellyfish. They show up off the coast of Australia when the weather is great and the water is warm. They are tiny, and almost invisible besides. Their sting will put you in the hospital at least, and some die. Patients in the hospital have begged their doctors for a lethal dose of morphine just to make the pain stop. Oh, and unlike many jellyfish, they are not at the mercy of the current and tides. They can swim surprisingly fast.

The most dangerous animal, I think, is the Assassin Caterpillar. It's small so it can go unnoticed and all you need is one touch, one brush, to die from envenomation without even realizing what killed you.
