Aiyo Seth! With the 1:3.2 exchange rate, RM$25 (~SGD$7.75) for a bowl of prawn mee of that size in KL/PJ area with the amount of ingredients and seafoods should be considered reasonable lah. A bowl of smaller size prawn mee at Old Airport Road Hawker Center with 5 big prawns already costs SGD$10 (~RM$32.5 and not sure if lady boss got raises her price or not recently after Covid) right? I am from Northern Malaysia but spent my entire teenager years growing up in SG, so I can say I am very familiar with both versions of the prawn mee. Both are flavorful and taste good but I think the Malaysia version tastes richer and creamier. The red color of soup of the Penang version does come from frying the prawn shells and heads before adding them to the pork bone broth. I do know the soup of the SG version also uses the prawn shells and heads too (including those broths they use to fry white Hokkien mee), just not sure why they are not red...

Kwong Wah ice Katanga for me, have to go red sugar not gula Melaka. The selling point there is actually the smooth ice, and it goes better with the red sugar

Malaysia's food is easier to replicate in Singapore and there's a bigger market of Malaysians in Singapore compared to Singaporeans in Malaysia to patronize them.

Why Singapore sell a lot of Malaysian Food but Singaporean food is not sold in Malaysia. Simple reason mah, so many Malaysians come to Singapore to work. How many Singaporeans cross the border and work in Malaysia 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 If there are 500,000 Singaporeans working in JB sure have Sg Hokkien Mee also lar.
