Currently living in Japan as an English teacher, 8400 miles from the UK, my native land. This channel has been an incredible source of not only some of my favorite songs, but has also served as a source of innermost strength in my darkest moments of homesickness. Many thanks, Seth!

As an American. I cannot state how much this shanty, means to us
@pietervangorp2672 ай бұрын
What does this song have to do with you being American? Does this song have special meaning to the American people? Because it is about the British and sung by the British, so I don't see any reason.
@SecretPersonCommentАй бұрын
@@pietervangorp267 it is a traditional American shanty.
@pietervangorp267Ай бұрын
@@SecretPersonComment weird, because it's origin is in Britain sung by the salvation army. So how can it be a traditional American song when it is actually a traditional British song?
@SecretPersonCommentАй бұрын
@@pietervangorp267 "The term 'Roll the chariot' was used by religious groups in the 19th century in England. The Primitive Methodist preacher William Clowes mentions the phrase several times in his journals (1810 to that of 1838) describing his work spreading the word of God. In the 1880s, 'Roll the old Chariot' was used by the Salvation Army as a campaign hymn. At around the same time Gospel singers from America were touring in the UK, singing gospel songs." The origin was a combination of US and the UK, but it gained more prevalence in the US.

I heard a fella singing this at the bar the other night - and I'm in the middle of Pennsylvania, USA, far from any port or maritime community - and it was just AWFUL (the singing and the beer....and the prices) and I thought to m'self, "If only that Seth guy from KZbin was here. He could salvage this disaster!" and ye delivered! ...albeit a day and a hangover later when I found you published this.

Could you do a version of Oro Sé Do Bheatha' Bhaile with the Jacobite Lyrics? I know you already have a version with Pádraig Anraí Mac Piarais lyrics, but i am curious to khow how the song with the original Jacobite lyrics sound. And the only versions of the song avalaible in youtube with the jacobite lyrics are very few and have very bad audio, are of very low quality or they modify the lyrics a little.
