Woah, three in one! It’s really awesome hearing all of them side to side. There’s actually even a fourth official arrange of this song because the labyrinth was brought back for Etrian Mystery Dungeon as well, which i would say is most similar to the Nexus arrange, it’s also very nice to listen to. All the labyrinth themes are basically your walking themes in the game, since they play while you explore the dungeon in a first person. The tomb one you listened for the 5th game with that soulful piano is in this same subset of songs. Waterfall Woodlands was brought back for Nexus, which was a game that basically reused all of the previous games dungeons and classes to celebrate the EO series. Since there’s been remakes of the first and second games too, plus the Mystery Dungeon spin-offs, there’s actually a lot of songs that have like 4+ arrangements! Lots of great music to listen to for the EO fans~ I like to think that the darken tension to an otherwise calm and mysterious song is the fact you can get jumped by random encounters at any time, so despite the beauty of your surroundings, you’re always reminded by the danger lurking underneath… Hoping you’ll get a request for City of Radiant Ruins in the future, that one’s super arrange has been my on loop song for the past week 🙏🏼

If he does eventually get around to the Etrian Odyssey IV songs, I kind of feel it would be best for him to play the "Cave" music back-to-back with their "Labyrinth" counterparts (e.g. "Library of Puppets" and _then_ "City of Radiant Ruin", "Lead Astray in the Lost Woods" and _then_ "Misty Ravine", etc.), since the Caves are essentially a small taste of what the larger and more complex Labyrinths have in store (and because the caves never got Super Arrange versions lol).

Every song in this series did this to you. It gave you this feeling of awe and intrigue as you power through the dungeons and their mysteries. Every time you got to a new area it you could feel the shift in atmosphere and it drew you in. His work on the music design in these games cannot be understated.

The theme of walking, hoping for good random encounters, avoiding the FOE's like the plague, while mapping it out as you go. Although that is true of just about all of etrian odysseys area themes.
@Kalanin3992 жыл бұрын
So it's been mentioned but Waterfall Woodlands is the the walking dungeon theme for the "First Stratum" of Etrian Odyssey III. There's a total of 6 stratums in each game for 6 different thematic ambiance that fits with the stratum of the area. Being a beginner stage, Waterfall Woodlands has a much more tranquil exploratory feel to it in my opinion compared to later themes in the game. As for potential reasons it in particular was brought back, EOIII never got a proper remake, and was the last game in the series to be done on the original DS handhelds, before Nintendo released the next gen versions of the consoles. EOI and EOII were redone and remade after the success of EO4, which was a launch title on the newest consoles. However EOIII never got that treatment. Despite that, EOIII is the game that really pushed the series into a new frontier, and a good deal of the core series systems like subclassing started in EOIII. The music in EOIII is widely regarded by basically anyone I ask in the community to have the best soundtrack, so much so that Atlus actually replaced an existing recurring theme up to this point, Scatter About, with the Sea boss theme in EOIII We might never see an "Untold" version of EOIII, but almost every track from the game has been redone in other games, and it probably has the most fan covers of all the games at this point.

Funfact: The original was made with the same tools as the NES/SNES dungeon crawlers of yore. It was in an interview with the music lead where he wanted to keep the charm of the music from the old FP dungeo crawling games. You can hear it more clearly in the first game , but it gets exponentially better with each game.

From what I heard, with the first three Etrian Odyssey games being done on the DS, Yuzo decided to navigate the issue of the DS's limited sound capabilities by rendering the entire OST in FM-synth. It became a success, so even when the series progressed onto the 3DS and the soundtrack went orchestral, he kept making FM-synth renditions.

I 'm not sure if someone already put this out there already, but Etrian Odyssey Nexus is the 6th Main Installment of the Series, not counting the Mystery Dungeon Spin-offs. It returns in Nexus because the Labyrinth is in the game, because lore reasons. And because the place is also a fan favorite? To put it simply, Nexus is like combining all the games together. Except Beyond the Myth for lore reasons.
