I just got 5 more traps. I use an auger bit slightly smaller than the tube. I pull the dirt out as I go, then wallow the hole to fit. I also use the open end of the tool to pull up loose dirt in the tunnel. They do get more wary after a while and it can take longer the second or third time.

I just ordered 2 of these. My concern is proper placement and correct height. Any advice would be appreciated. I'm pretty sure I have pocket gophers, too. I have tried poison mole worms, and they're not working. I also ordered some Victor gopher and mole poison to try.

I have pocket gophers and have caught 8+ with the Gopherhawk but its very difficult for me to find their tunnels. I've only had luck finding a dirt mound and placing a trap closeby. Probing around, you don't feel the obvious break in resistance like you would with a larger tunnel.

I must have some pocket gophers on steroids then. But i do know they are pocket gophers… just ran one over with the lawnmower today- gruesome

@@shanew7361 I have had the best luck finding the mound of dirt where they are kicking dirt out of their tunnel. Use the probe tool near the mound to find the tunnel. I use a drill and tiller to make a hole and then use the probe tool again more laterally to find the tunnel hole. Place the trap. It takes a lot of practice but keep at it.

@barrett14 I also ordered the wire tek traps. I'm not sure if I have gophers or moles, but the poison mole worms didn't work.

I bought that expensive thing and the critter would just dig around it, don't waste your money get a pitchfork and Wait for activity.

He hit it once and it died. Not sure how a shovel would be any different. You could say it was “risky”, but it did the same thing a shovel would do.

gopherhawk stinks for moles. It's not the right size for the holes so you have to do all this extra work to get the trap to sit up right. this is crap for moles. get a wiretek 1001

I hate the gophers tearing up my property, but this vid is bad considering you did 10x the harm to the ground that the gopher did.

@@iamtroyhollinger yeah for sure. Just seems silly. One shovel sized plug, gopher gasser, reinstall plug to seal it, done. Cannot even see where in the lawn you did the work.
