Funny how most unproffesional people have there say. For those that need to learn take note. The pitch of the roof is fine for the material used. The fascia protector gets fitted once the lats are fixed. And the lead is fitted properly. Also these days we use breathable felt for help with the ventilation. Please do your homework before questions. Considering this job was done time ago. No issues have happened only more works done to the property over time. It's a pleasure. DOH

That sort of felt shouldnt be exposed at the bottom of the roof, eventually it will break down and rot. Should use purpose made eve tray, or a good quality bitumen felt strip.

When slating i run a strip of DPC as an eave tryay under the felt to protect the end.

DPC breaks down as well, purchase the right material .eaves felt support tray.

There is a 13" eaves felt you can buy for through eave line of the roof & if your roof leaks it is the tiles or slates letting the water through not the felt
@MrFlatroofer3 жыл бұрын
Use continuous under eaves, 10' long 14 inches high, very thin and strong. Used it for years. Easier and so much quicker.
@philbotherobot2 жыл бұрын
Shite , no eaves guard , no ventilation , shite felt , looks too shallow , using the gauge is shite if a lat comes different thickness you’ll lose your overall gauge .

Yes there is. All these people saying there is no fascia cover at the bottom . They are fixed in before tileing/slateing the roof. Yes will do a video on them. They are screwed underneath the felt on to the joist. Not all information from start of the job to the end is videoed. Just let everyone go on with them selfs. Funny the ones that bitch are the Muppets that dont do videos. To show/ teach people. Didn't mention how to do verge or soffit. So have a moan. Thanks people

Felt marketed as breathable does not provide adequate ventilation to cold roof spaces.

Use a thinner batten for the eve course or the first course will be rockers. Its Shocking that your giving others advice.

old school way is the best laths, slates, torching' all slate's should be holed on site'headlap and pitch,cut copper nails, thick heavy 10x6 slate

Why does the top of the slate always sit on the middle of a Batten? Why not rest over the whole Batten?

Sorry but Terrible ,you never use a gauge in between battens , always top of the last one laid, to the top of the next one , the battens will soon be out of gauge and your slates will not fit properly , eaves protectors should be fitted and the felt should never lap into the gutter it will rot

@@thespecialist7 I am a roofer myself and have been for nearly 20 years, everyone knows you put eave trays at the bottom over the fascia so the felt into the gutter doesn’t rot,plus your supporting the eave slate and your first full course of slates. Btw I’ve only ever been on dole once in my life,which was over 10 years ago,when we had the recession,i was on the dole for about 8 months
@TheGojodfrey11 жыл бұрын
It'll look ?ok? when its finished but there is a near full catalogue of errors in this video, felt too taught, meaning between the rafters, the untreated timber battens touching the felt, the fall does lok very slender, and the lap, is woefully inadequate, not a job I'd pass for any client.
