Great video as are the rest, quick tip put an old ring on the piston that you are using to push the ring in the bore, makes it much quicker and the ring ends up square it the bore every time

Hey, on my set of JE pistons, my secondary comp ring has no markings besides the "N" for Nippon. Does the side with the N face up? It's like an internally stepped ring, like a notch cut out on one side where it rides the bore. I can't find anything on vortex/JE website.

Hi yes the marking faces up. It should be a cast ring where the step on the ring is on the outside.

Question for anyone in the thread: I am building a 2.0 stroker version of the 1.8T (AWM). I went with CP-Carrillo stroker pistons at 83mm (3.268") bore. I was gapping my rings and somehow feeler guages failed me (more like I failed to use them properly) and I over gapped everything. I need advise on whether it will be fine or if I need to buy a whole new set of rings. Specs according to CP for Nitrous/Turbo engines: Top: Bore x 0.0055" = 3.268x0.0055 = 0.018" or 0.45mm 2nd: Top + 0.004" to 0.008" My rings: Top: 0.021" or 0.52mm 2nd: 0.028" or 0.70mm Is this too much gap now? Please help!!

I've set gaps for Nitrous on the same size bores previously at 0.5, 0.6. Currently doing well running 565bhp and no oil consumption. Your not far away from that, so I'd suggest it will be OK. All depends on whether you want the cost of fresh rings to close the gap up.

Hi, depends on what you are planning on using the engine for. Id suggest they are bigger than what id use but they would work fine.
