@@DecimalTenths Go for it, great chance to get stuff done if you can't work from home. I'd love to have 3 weeks to crack on with stuff. I expect to see the Lupo running end of next week 😂🔥

For all those people who think building an engine is easy i would love them to watch these videos lol. I've been making notes from all your videos to start my engine build at the end of the year, hopefully 🤞. Keep it up Nick, at least we have something to look forward too 👍.

Thanks for sharing this info building a stroker. I'm from Holland and its very usefull for me. I've got a 06a, the crankshaft, the pistons, the rods. Now wait fore the 82.5 bore (this friday) and the bearrings/bolts and then start building. A long way to go, but with your video's its gonna work👍( at least i think??? 🤔😄).

Awesome video like always. How much would you say all the engine parts would add up to?
@DecimalTenths
@DecimalTenths 4 жыл бұрын
I can certainly put something together detailing the cost when it's all together. This has been a seriously cheap build for me. Maybe worth putting up current pricing of parts as well.

I finally recieved my pistons. I am going 83mm. Question should machine shop be able to tell me I need block decked? Should I just do it? I am worried about valve clearance. But reading for 500+ hp needs decked for absolute seal. Your thoughts. Thanks as always learning so much. Using ur vids every step.

Hi there, this is one of the areas that I didnt cover very well in the videos. In all honesty i edited it out, to make them shorter but i do plan on covering some of the little details in a video very soon. In terms of the block deck, it's either good or it's not. If theres no deflection in the deck when measured with a straight edge and feelers gauge then it is fine to send! Your machine shop will be able to advise on that if you dont have the kit.

Amazing mate. Cant wait for the build videos. Quick one tho, did they ever do a 5door S3 like yours? Looking for an interior for my Octavia. I've got S3 hub assy, cast wishbones, quick rack, TT FARB, 4 pots and 256mm rears to go on it. Need coilies so it all fits. Want to make a 1.9tdi like my last vRS just more eco ;-)

Alright mate, cheers for your continued support! There was no 5 door S3, but there was a 5 dr 1.8t quattro. For some reason I always end up building anti economy vehicles... 🤔. Need to get a diesel build under my belt at some point.

Good stuff! I've come across some people saying that the block needs to be linebored when using arp main studs. What is your opinion on that?
@DecimalTenths
@DecimalTenths 4 жыл бұрын
The mains need line bored/honed if you replace the main cap as they are honed from the factory. If you replace the bolts with studs then you dont need to.

Is it normal for a newley built engine to burn some oil for first 1000 miles was ran in carfully on 5/40 break in oil for 200 miles second oil change at 500 to 10/40 quantum and 3rd change at 1000 miles still using oil bit woried about wall clearence after last video as still using oil after 1000 miles
@DecimalTenths
@DecimalTenths 4 жыл бұрын
It's completely normal for any engine to burn oil. At what rate is the question... if it's still very noticeable after 1000 miles with normal use then there may indeed be an issue. Worn rings or excessive PTW ckearance will generally show as oil burning under load (WOT). Do you have specs for the build? It's all in the detail.
@ryanthethumb
@ryanthethumb 4 жыл бұрын
@@DecimalTenths dont have the specs just no it was only honed new rings standard pistons used about 1.5 liters in about 1100 miles there no leaks and u carnt c any smoke
