Featured in TIR Episode 320 (Part 1 of 2; see Part 2 here: • "TRUTH IN RHYTHM" - TM... ): Former members of Frankie Beverly & Maze’s touring band - now known as TMF, or The Music Forever. TMF includes one of Maze’s founders along with others who’ve been part of the group for 20 years or more, and who have worked with stars such as Whitney Houston, Earth, Wind & Fire, Mavis Staples, Janet Jackson and Al Jarreau.
Together, they are honoring one of soul & funk music’s most successful and beloved legacies that includes Maze classics like “Southern Girl,” “Happy Feeling,” “Feel That You’re Feelin,” “Back in Stride,” “Running Away,” “Golden Time of Day,” “Workin’ Together” and “Can’t Get Over You.” All eight of Maze’s 1977-1993 albums hit the R&B Top 10, with 15 singles going Top 20.
In addition to bringing those songs to vivid life on stage, TMF is producing new music, including the soulful single, “Making Love to the Music.” Participating was Chris Walker (lead vocals), Roame (congas, vocals), Jubu (guitar, vocals), Calvin Napper (drums), Bear Williams (bass, vocals) and Daniel Weatherspoon (keyboards). Vance Taylor (keys, vocals) was unavailable.

Well first of all I love that shirt with those soul funk bands names TMF, the new group I'm lovin' it Roame, the original surviving Maze member who along with Frankie Amazing bongo player Chris, he has a great voice and I still remember him from 1991 with his first album Jubu, he's the bad boy with the guitar plays so damn good and of course Tony Toni Tone Calvin, very great gospel singer Daniel, is great Bear, he's gonna make it happen this dude is awesome with the guitar. I guess with the split from FB, it's time to move forward cause Frankie's health is declining, his voice is not the same leading to his retirement and now Sept 10th passed away, man that was the worst sad thing all the Maze fans experienced This is such a great interview Keep up the good work, fellas!!! RIP Frankie TMF always keep him in your prayers

Last year my daughter treated me to Frankie Beverly and maze at Enmark Arena in Savannah. I didn't know it at the time but it was a real blessing because I believe it was after this that the band split with FB Blessed to be able to see the music is going to continue. New material.YES

😮 So Maze split up!!! I know FB had been issues with his voice. Is that the reason why? It’s sad to see this legendary, iconic band fold. 😔

It appears there is something more to this break up. Maybe due to Frankie digressing as a performer he turned things over to his family or a different management team to finish the last days of his singing career, which probably meant doing things a little different. For years Frankie said he was his own Mgr, Change is not always bad and nothing last forever,

Instead of blaming black musicians, how about you blame former President Ronald Reagan. It was his policies that eliminated music being taught in schools way back in the 80s. Combine that with the evolution of drum machines and other musical technology and you have the end of young people being musicians and learning real instruments. It’s been over for a LOOOONG time, like over 40 years. The musicians did not fail anyone. Things changed and they’re never going back to what they used to be. All young people making music aren’t thugs either
