Setting up a 2+3+2 Multi-Axle trailer Part 1

Take some time out with me to put together a Multi-Axle trailer for the first time. This particular trailer has a walking beam suspension system. So the process is similar to one that does not have the same suspension setup.

when will a trailer manufacturer come out with a system that you don't need to go through this ritual of setting up? I know of Europe trailer companies that have such trailers.

Europe has different axle weights, this is an old lowboy. The newer ones here in the USA are so much easier to put together.

Yes, the trucks in Europe are allowed more weight per axle than the US. With this setup I can gross 220k.

ATS have newer trailers in their fleet that don’t require as much finessing as this one. This trailer is one of the oldest they have still active in their fleet which was make in 2016

We have steerable trainers over here also, the last two axles on this particular trailer self steers going forward, but will need to be lifted off ground to back up without damaging them. We also have remote steering trailers here in the fleet as well.

You said a lot when you said that. I wish they would do the same. However I just got assigned a 2025 2+3+2 on Friday. Going to get my first load with it on Tuesday

I did 4 of them already, would have done a 5th one but this trailer had cracks in the frame and needed shocks all the way around. So they deadheaded me to Cloud to drop that one and pick up the new one
