Can someone plz clarify one thing for me. I know this is a solid camera and I love it for still photography in manual mode. However when I shoot family sessions or events I find that I don’t know where or what focus points to use to make every person sharp. I understand increasing aperture will help but I guess my question is should I stick to just manually selecting the center most point instead of letting it auto select? And where do I focus that point on to make sure other ppl in the photo are also in focus?

Try to nail the center most subject’s eye. I would use the top center point.

I haven’t actually used this camera for years, but from memory I used to use the center focus point and focus recompose. It wasn’t bad, in low light it could struggle, I used to have a flash that shot out a laser grid which helped the camera obtain focus on low light

@@nathan_woodgate what are you using now. To be honest I have other cameras more modern. But to be honest shooting with strobes and OCF modifiers. There is no better camera than this. It looks amazing like film. I hate focus and recompose I’m spoiled now.

Whitebalance to auto on a wedding? Do you fix in later in the RAW? Bit time consuming, isn't it?

Hey if you have the time to adjust your white balance in camera during a fast paced wedding go ahead. Every picture is post processed anyway, that's why you shoot RAW, WB is just a one click adjustment in LR or Capture 1 anyway

Yes you can, hopefully you have some fast lenses? F1.4 for example? Try not to go above ISO3200 if not you may need to change the images to black and white in post

Hey always try to get group photos in lowest iso..While going for high iso the pixels ll break.. Adjust aperture and shutter speed for better lighting.. cant giv u a fixed setting unless u mention at what lighting u r taking pics

+Henry Gentles Hi Henry, you can only set HSS in the flash menu when you have a compatible HSS flash. If you are using a flash that does not support HSS then you will not have this option in the flash menu.

The setup is for flash so you will need to change to aperture or shutter priority

How to change ISO to 1.4 as on every mode it goes minimum to 4.0 but my lens is a 1.4F lens.

First, there are some terminology issues here. First, 1.4 or 4.0 are apertures, not ISO. ISO is the sensitivity of the "film" (i.e. the sensor in a digital camera). Also, when you say "minimum" aperture, you actually mean maximum. Because the lower the f-stop number is, the MORE wide open the aperture is. Now to your issue. Are you using a zoom lens or a prime (non-zoom) lens? Some zoom lenses can't achieve their maximum aperture at all zoom levels. For example, I had a Canon EF‑S lens that was 10‑22mm f/3.5‑4.5. This means that at 10mm, you can get a maximum aperture of f/3.5, but zoomed all the way in to 22mm you can only get a maximum aperture of F/4.5. If you're using a zoom lens, try zooming all the way out and then turning the scroll wheel on the back of the camera to the left to see if the aperture will go any lower. If you're on full manual mode and zoomed all the way out, and the lens will still not go to the maximum aperture stated, then there may be a communication issue between your camera and lens.
