Thanks, Just purchased D5 mark 2 to thank you for very helpful videos, easier to understand than trying to read the manual which I have a problem with small writing and staying awake.

how would you say this camera performs now in 2017?

I don't know why I am just stumbling across these but they are massively helpful! Do you have any tutorials on how to create long exposure photos? Looking to get some of the stars moving across the sky...thanks so much for these informational videos!

Hi Charles, Glad the videos are helping. I don't have a tutorial for that as it is not the kind of work I shoot. You will need a tripod ( good solid one) a fast lens F2.8 or faster that is wide angle and a longer shutter speed ( above 30 seconds ) to start to get the rotation of the earth to show. The actual exposure settings are hard to say as it will depend on the night but try ISO 800 -1600 F2.8 30 seconds as a starting point.

Divide 500 by your focal length and that should give you a useable shutter speeds. Set the ISO to 1600 and open the Aperture up. That’s pretty much it. An exposure lasting longer than 28 or 32 seconds will result in trailing. To defeat this you will need a mount cable of tracking the rotation of the planet.
