If you are looking for a great trellis idea that’s simple and easy to do this is for you. This is the second of of these type of trellis we have done in our garden and we absolutely love it. It is very durable and can withstand a lot of weight. Our children have actually climbed on top of it.
So what exactly is a trellis? A trellis is a frame of latticework used as a screen or as a support for climbing plants.
We use our trellis for cucumbers, squash, tomatoes, long beans, and many other climbing plants. That is why we use the cattle panel and t post because we want it to support that weight.
The cattle panels are 16 ft. long and 50 in. high and the T post is 6 ft. long.
“There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism, One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.” Ephesians‬ ‭4:4-7‬ ‭

I built my cattle panel trellises with raised bed boxes inside and plan to cover the trellis with plastic and use it as a greenhouse over the winter months.

I want to do this over our 2 raised beds. Good to know about the tool! This is our first time to plant using a trellis. Will you plant under the trellis and let the plants run up and over, or will you also let plants on the outside run up the trellis?
@JesusLovingHomesteader
@JesusLovingHomesteader 2 жыл бұрын
We will plant vining crops like squash, indeterminate tomatoes, and long beans on the outside. Then we will will grow crops like lettuces, calendula, marigolds. And herbs on the inside of the trellis :) partial shade plants are better to grow on the inner sides

How tall did that end up being? I'm about to pull the trigger on this idea but just started to consider I might do better with a 16' and 8' ft panel, then link them so my arch is higher but im nervous about how hard it will be and whether it will still look nice. I want to grow dipper gourds and fill in with pole beans.
@JesusLovingHomesteader
@JesusLovingHomesteader 5 ай бұрын
We love the bigger panels for gourds! 16ft panels will give you enough room to walk through comfortably even with the dipper gourds. Nathan is 6ft and can walk through the bent over 16ft panels even when there are vines everywhere.
