One handy tip is to, whilst you're lining up the PedalPower for drilling, to plug the PedalPower in through the holes so that there is absolutely no way of drilling the wrong location! :)

A trick I use when drilling metal is to use a sharp-pointed metal center punch, or a nail. Use that with a hammer to set a dent in the metal in the center of each marking. Drill into that dent in the metal and that way the drill will stay in place during the operation, rather than "walk around". Another hint is to use a small diameter drill first, and then follow with the correct size drill. The smaller drill can be easier to control and depending on the size of the hole you want to end up with, when drilling metal it can be much easier to start small and use gradually larger diameter bits until you get to the size you need.

It's really sad when the high point of someone's day is that they're first to comment on a KZbin video and simply that it's their only comment. Moving on, thanks for this Justin. I will be looking to purchase a few pedals soon (still learning) so a pedal board will be in my future as well. Thanks and kudos for all of the help.

Great tip about the velcro and carpets - smart. I have one Pedal Train Pro - but the carpet tip acually saves me buying another for studio use. I will buy a piece of rugged carpet and attach it - with velcro :-) - to my floor!

Don't forget to tighten those screws you left loose to enable easy line up - some proprietary filler might fix your floor -best to drill on a spare piece of wood though. Best Wishes David

@PhilipPorter They sell the PP2 brackets separately for $13. $10 (or less?) for a hole saw and you're in business for ~$25... maybe $5 more for some emory cloth and black paint to touch up the holes? Then your board would be exactly like you want it.

For $150 I should not be drilling holes. I never take my stuff out so I will just go with a piece of plywood (hard wood ). Also I need a place to put my wall wart for my Eventide H9 Max, which won't work with this mounting arrangement. This pedal is way too expensive to not use the original power cable, right? Thanks for the info as usual.

@PhilipPorter If you don't need the courtesy outlet, and if you don't need the dip switches on one of the power supplies, you can move the first power supply further to the side so that the power input cable goes into the left hole (looking at it from underneath) and then put the second power supply upside down to reach the second hole. :-)
@Smudgie
@Smudgie 12 жыл бұрын
@tehm Believe me, I thought of this, but actually it doesn`t help due to the power supply holes for the cables on the back of the Power Plus becoming inaccessible behind the bar that Justin firstly drills into.

Just a heads up for the not so cashed up Aussie budding pedal board builders out there. Unarguably Pedaltrain sell a solid product, but they have established their brand name as prestigious in the segment so it's only for wealthier guitarists IMO. Up and coming Chinese brand Joyo make a board of similar quality, design and size for a fraction of the price for the value minded or budget constrained - like me. Check out the Pedaltrain Classic 2 vs Joyo RDB2. Joyo's RDB2 comes either with an airport trolley style hard case upping the total price to AUD$199 shipped, or without a case for $79 which is fine for home bedroom or studio use, and allowing a case of choice to be acquired later. I paid AUD$77.50 in 2018 $AUD for mine without case inc shipping. All I can say is "bite me" Pedaltrain. The RDB2 is beautifully texture finished powder coated aluminium, with a PSU mount bracket clip for either of Joyo's PSUs or the numerous even cheaper clones from Vitoos, Flanger, Caline et al. A Pedaltrain Classic 2 pedalboard clone pretty much. Pedaltrain prices might be OK if you can buy at US prices from the likes of Sweetwater in the US, but here,..forget it. For comparison, Pedaltrain 2 with soft case AUD$290 on eBay, a whopping "from" AUD$360 elsewhere! Too rich for me. With hard case for AUD$529?!! o.O Best I've seen is AUD$499 on eBay. Someone's 'havin' a lend' (Aussie slang for 'takin' the p1ss') right? Let's see now. AUD$529 vs AUD$199 for the effectively same items. Hmmm...let me think about that for half a nanosecond. That's right. I can buy a Squier Affinity Tele with the change.Tough call ain't it?

@JustinSandercoe I tried doing exactly the same but with a mini and putting my loop on top of the amp (I think you play on much bigger stages than I do ;-)). This means the pedals in the loop (via the amp loop switch) are all always on or all always off which is sometimes a bit of a compromise.

There are six outputs 100 mah each and two with 250 mah. Depending on what pedals you're using you could split an output. A lot of dirt pedals need like 20 mah.

@nsilvanet Analog pedals are still considered to be better by professional musicians. You will rarely see a pro-guitarist using anything but. Agreed emulator sounds are good, but the response to the dynamics of playing and the "feel" doesn`t compete.

I don't recommend doing that if your pedal train is made of aluminium. It is quite a toxic substance and when you drill holes on it you are basically breathing aluminium dust. So you should do this wearing a mask at least, but you are still polluting the environment, which is your house, your garden and your air. If you already have one it's ok, but if you are going to buy a new one, buy one made of another material, like steel.
