Yours is nice and large. I bought a 13X20 and worked great, except for snow load sag, which I had to raise sagging areas with broom to make snow slide off. After some years of use, fabric started to fail, so I removed it all and covered tube frame with 18 sections of 12 X 3 foot sections of steel roofing. Works great, no longer a worry of snow load, it can handle it now with no sagging what so ever now.

Love how they, the company, did not sew over the seams they cut to prevent them from ripping in the future. Future Video should be you converting it to Metal Siding, adding Insulation, Interior Panels, Electrical, Plumbing and converting it to a House... Like Soo Many Others have done or do/will.

Old plastic one gallon lids "Gatorade wide mouth" would make a lovely secondary protection just cut off the locking edge make it flat put tape over the nut then the disk and another piece of tape over the edge of the disk I've never used it but my friend and neighbor I watched her use the trick on a tiny green house this summer will be 5 years and she has it tho the u.v. has worn out the cover but the rub spots are not stressing or catching the cover😎 great video, well done and you 2 made me smile keep it up god bless😎

Consider putting round holes at the ends of those slits like the one at 28:21 with a hole punch to keep those slits from ripping further.

Tip....To prevent the wind from flapping the bottom of the "doors" hammer into the ground thick strong dowel pins on inside and outside the outer edge so the pipe fits into that slot when they are lowered. Bricks would work too in place of the dowel pins.

When you go to move just back your truck up next to the cable put a piece of pipe up in the top of the bed where the square holes are and put a Come Along on there and hook it around the anchor wench it down some and bounced on the back of the truck bumper and the Springs will pull it right out of the ground that's the way me and Dad would pull fence poles out of the ground Works awesome

Hey Guys!! Wow Harrison is really growing so fast, he’s gonna be quite the little helper. I was really hoping for a shop tour at the end of the build though. I've had those kind of portable shelters and I found I had to constantly replace the vinyl material every two years or so. And if there was a big wind storm after a long, hot summer, the fabric just ripped and blew off. Since you have lots of sun and wind there in Simi Valley, expect to replace the fabric as frequently as I had to.
@HollywoodHaunter
@HollywoodHaunter 5 жыл бұрын
Although we wouldn't be super surprised if that did happen we hope it lasts much longer than a couple years. These guys do warranty them for a couple years so if it starts to break down after that hopefully we could just replace it. We make most of our money working out of it so the cost is definitely well worth it for us. Someday a real shop would be the best!

Suggestion, how about slipping the bottom rail through the anchor cable loop before fastening rail onto the support post. Then wrap the anchor cable over top of the rail on the opposite side of rail-post union point where it bolted. Then pound the anchor cable into the ground until snug.. No U-bolt needed!

@HollywoodHaunter

Thanks Steve that is a great idea to help the shelter last. One of the main reasons we went with the rhino versus other brands is because they have an added UV chemical they added in the outer layer and then it also has a black scrim in the middle layer which blocks out all light and uv from penetrating the tent. I can go in that thing during the day and it is pitch black inside its crazy. We will see how how it does hopefully it will last a while for us.

Not sure if you saw we posted this a while back kzbin.info/www/bejne/p5e4dJWEqNl-kLc For us it really is one of the best purchases we have made. Surprisingly the sun has not ate through the material and its held up really well. I just screwed up by letting the door flaps rub on the ground instead adjusting the height and it rubbed through the material on the bottom so it won't hold the pipes any more. Nice thing is you can order a new end panel if you want to. I also need to lay down some old carpet or turf some day because its dusty in there when its windy. Customer service has always been nice for us as well. All I can say is we dealt with fixing and repairing the cheap harbor freight ones every single time it got windy. Since we have had this one we never have had any issues. I admit it still scares me watching it move a little when the wind is blowing at 50 mph.

@HollywoodHaunter

No experience with that cause we don't get it here but I'd think it would work well as far as not taring from the weight. I'd think if it was a heavy snow fall a person would want o try and knock off the worst of it.

That looks amazing ouchie on the wallet $2,599.00 for the size you bought. But, if you take it down often to save on weather and UV damage maybe you can extend its life so worth it? Do you plan on leaving it up through next winter too? Ahh the beautiful sounds that steal my heart at 42:30 hehe

@@HollywoodHaunter Wow really? Because even my strongest biggest tarps only survive maybe 2 years outside over my wood walls year round. After that sun eats through the tarps and shreds them and I must go buy another. Very costly in the long run. After seeing your video I been seriously entertaining the notion of buying one for my haunts and just building a layout inside. But, my yard as a deep 20 degree grade I have to also work around and a large thistle tree I also build around each year right in the center of my haunt rofl.

Here is a little part of some of the info on their shelter material. Now I don't know for sure if all the companies claim to have this in their material but we thought it sounded good nonetheless I guess we will see. If it starts looking shabby I can always add a large tarp each year. Its material is a triple stack weave that is strong with a special layer in between the outer and inner layers called an Inner Black Scrim. The Inner Black Scrim has a coating that blocks 100% sunlight from penetrating through the material. The shelter cover fabric is infused with a special chemical inside and outside to protect it against the sun's harmful UV Rays. This special chemical not only coats the outer fabric for protection against UV Rays but also makes the material waterproof as well as giving it protection against scuffs to preserve the outside appearance.

Why does everyone do the same thing . They add the legs first and try to stand it up and work 10 foot off the ground to connect the top . . Just leave the legs for last and put the top part together while its close to the ground once the top is together then add the legs one side at a time . Also go ahead and put the tarp on the top before the legs and when you add the legs your working in the shade to tighten every thing up . You can just fold it out of the way when you start on the end tarp .
@HollywoodHaunter
@HollywoodHaunter 4 жыл бұрын
That is a good logical way to do it if you can and we have set up our smaller lightweight harbor freight style car ports that way. But for this one you would have a fork lift or genie lift of some kind to lift one side up at a time specially with the top on. The two of us struggled to just carry top tarp together. I think that's why the manual instructs you to do to the way we did. But I agree any kind of work is easier on the ground. Good exercise though

Hi folks! The fact that you were having to make slits in the tarping, without a proper means of being able to further reinforce these new holes and not be allowed the use of a screw type anchoring system in your kit would be a massive turn-off for me! Sixty miles an hour winds will definitely raise big time hell with that structure. I just hope that you are able to get those kinds of kinks out of your system is all! Now, if it were not a rental property, I would auger out those anchor point holes and pore concrete and use the long screw anchors into the cement gravel mix before the cement was to set up; just saying! That structure couldn't have been cheap by a longshot and I feel that perhaps you would need to protect your investment big time with the use of some extra added protection features. Honestly, I bought a 10' X 12' shed back in 2006 with flooring and it actually came with tornado strapping and screw anchors for good measure! I just hope that things all work out for you folks! You are a great team, all three of yahs!! Thank-You for that great video!

Thanks Craig, The material is cool how it will not rip I tried and it just stretches. We are getting some auger style anchors to add to the shelter and we have several sandbags that we can clip on to the frame if we need to. I'm hoping since its set up right next to the real garage it won't be as bad. We will see how it does this winter. Thanks for the input.

They range in price depending on size of course, this 22' x 24' x 12' goes for around $2,500 The cost is more than other companies like shelterlogic but after I looked at both products in person they didn't compare. The rhino was way more heavy duty. We have gone through a few cheaper harbor freight ones over the past years and thought we would take a chance and spend more money this time so we will see how long this one lasts.

all those holes you manually cut are just going to rip wide open over time. hard time believing that is part of the install instructions.

They haven't ripped at all over the years yet not even a little. Not joking its very surprising even with 50 mph wind.

I know they have a two year warranty for their shelters but I'm not sure about details on replacing due to wind damage. If you live in a windy place you pretty much can't have anything like outdoor furniture, covers, umbrellas, or anything stay nice for long. The fight gets real old quick that's for sure.

These are junk. I had built one of these years ago but it blew over despite having heavy anchors to hold it down

It's a huge step up for us! We had been using broken parts from cheap harbor freight ones scabbed together with tek screws, plumbers strap and a large tarp held down by sand bags. I spent more time replacing the cover each time it got windy than the projects I was working on underneath it. It's all still cheaper than renting a shop for us.
