My Autumn Joy Sedum took over a section of my garden so I dug some out a couple of weeks ago. Nobody wanted the extra plants so I just threw them out. I saw someone use it for a flower arrangement and they apparently have a long vase life. They’re easy to propagate too, just take some cuttings and stick them on the ground. They may even root in water while in a vase.

You mom and grandma are both so fun! It's obvious where you get your energy and personality. :-) Sure, sure, seedlings. But what this did is trigger an idea for my old garage!!!! I had extra outlets added this summer but didn't have the budget to add lights yet (only a single pitiful bulb there now), but I can use these lights piggy-backed across the rafters and do it myself! WOOOOOOOHOOOOOO (just discovered link goes to a different, hard-wired light, but can search since I know what to look for now...)

I mastered seed starting (well, became highly successful 😉) 20 years ago. One of the nicest things my husband ever did for me was building the shelving. Fluorescent lights set closely enough to the plants worked super, I did by some warm and some cool spectrum, but that might have been me just being extra. 😅 Now that there are metal shelves and I have our office back after grown child had moved out, I’m so inspired to get after it again! Like, thank you! My insides are jumping up and down and I’m going with it!! My brad Pitt needs to build me a greenhouse this go around! Squeee!! 😄

Like many peeps I've been forced to work from home this year due to covid. So I've been spending alot of time in my backyard (and KZbin) and have developed a love and passion now for gardening now. So thank you for all you share, it really is such a great help! And you're so fun and funny, love your personality -- you make me laugh alot. I’m feeling clueless about the grow lights though. The link to the ones you bought is more expensive at my store than you paid and I found some at Costco today and am wondering if they would work. What should I be looking for as far as lumens and such? Can it be a single bulb or does it have to be double?

You should look into the shop lights on Amazon though, they have some with 5000k-6500k light spectrum, high number of lumens, etc. I ordered 2 Mars hydro ts 600 grow lights, (which they say only covers 2 x 2 ft space but it covers a lot more when you're not growing "mari-tomatoes!" & you're just growing regular seedlings) but I have 2 shelves, where I put a marshydro in the center, and 2, 4 foot, 20w, 6500k led shop lights on each side, about 3 feet high, and am able to fit a few hundred seedlings in about a 4 x 4 space. They're not NECESSARY for veggies and stuff, but I wanted something with full spectrum, because I use them in the off season for orchids, succulents, etc.

Do you think you would be able to make a video detailing your growing year? Like a "month-by-month this is what I'm doing now"? Maybe with special emphasis on what is in bloom each month? Hubby and I will be retiring on some acreage in a couple of years, and I've never considered a cut flower garden because we've lived in suburbia our whole lives, but you've inspired me. I would love an overview of your annual process. It wouldn't have to be super detailed (unless you did a series of videos), just the highlights. It would be such a great starting point for all the nerdy research I plan on doing before the big move.
