Setting Up Email Notifications | Reolink Cameras

Tutorial on setting up email notifications on Reolink cameras. I'm using the desktop software with Gmail but hopefully, the ideas and instructions in this video will help people using other services.

I always thought that this would be a very straightforward task but encryption and multi-factor authentication makes this a little more tricky than you might otherwise think. It's no longer as simple as just authenticating on an SMTP server and sending your mail through.
Also, remember that you do have a limited number of relays that you can do with a regular free Gmail account. I'm sure it will be enough for most people but if you set up your camera so that it's sending a mail every 30 seconds, you might run into problems.

Hi. Thank you for this amazing video, without it I wouldn’t of got it my email notifications working for sure. One thing that I can add though, and this is where I was going wrong is, that in Windows 11 there doesn’t appear to be the App Password generator. Purely by chance I found it in the Google settings on my iPhone. Thanks for your help once again.

Thank you! I didn't have 2 step password so I changed it and now it works. Not sure why it didn't work with my regular password before I changed but at least it works.

You did an excellent job. You went into a lot of details, which was good. You showed the. examples, which was good. And I had no problems in setting it up. The only problem I'm having is the cloud, which wasn't mentioned in the video. but I found that it doesn't apply to the E1 series. That's kind of a disappointment. I pay for it all, but I did get a refund. It would be nice if the company did something like that to store it, because it does take Up storage. Check my view, it at a later time. And concentrate the areas that needed to be adjusted. even though it's a setup for inside camera, I have it by the window. so I know what's going on outside the front door. In general, I am very pleased with the camera. I think it's a good company. They do back up their products. And then again, I like to say thank you for the excellent demonstration and setting up the email accounts for notification.

My mistake.. in order for this to work 2 step account authentication must be turned on. It now works fine.

How can I use the setup for detection zone to trigger an email only when motion is happening in the detection zone with the settings of sensitivity and the like? The email notification sends an email EVERY TIME motion is happening in the whole area, not only in the detection zone.

Tried to put my gmail email in and just keep saying it wasnt valid. Tried a couple of emails and wouldnt accept. I bought a new camera and just cant connect it. I have the swann extreme cameras and no problem connecting but this brand a heap of rubbish because its not just me having problems connecting.

My gmail doesn't give me the option to get the secret password> How come? It's April/23/2022. App is not the same on my iMac. I just got a Reolink E1 Pro and is hell to set up the email/gmail alert. Hate it. ? Update, the problem was the 2 ways authentication was off. Now I got the password and set email alerts up. Thanks

the emails are coming when the sun sets or comes up wind blows too hard. how do I correct this?

Difficult to stop this. There'll always be a degree of false positives with camera detection. It's just a case of tweaking detection sensitivity or AI detection (if your camera has it) to reduce them to a minimum.
